Clixcast Episode 34: This week Steve and Gudda give it their shot at their top five Brick pieces. Talk a little about NECA (Nothing news worthy) and talk about GIJOE: Rise of Cobra as well as GIJOE: Resolute.
The most encouraging parts of the shows lately have been these "new player" reports. It's nice to hear those, both from the standpoint of the game on hiatus right now, as well as from the viewpoint some veteran players have that newcomers wouldn't work through the rules.

Thanks, I have always been trying to get new players into the game. The only issue it is hard for new players to get info on the game at them moment. Where ever I go I always end up talking about the game, even though I hardly get to play anymore. I actually used to keep a map, dice and some extra guys in my car in case I ever had to do a demo on the spot.
I was a member or Wizkids Demo crew as well...although that never went very far. It was cool though!
A few things i like to point out
1. I'm surprised The General or Skrull Mrs. Marvel wasn't on either list Stealth, HSS, Plasticity, FREAKIN OUTWIT, and Super Strength. She really is just an evil piece thanks to Plasticity she can use Trick Shot to devastate foes like Batman.
2. G.I. Resolute is SICK the writting is sharp the anime style they used served to make the action slick and believable. "Oh no Cobra Commander I'm not trying to open the door to get to you I'm making sure you can't get out!!!" that line made my spine tingle.
3. I loved the G.I. animated movie Don Johnson and all
4. Would somebody explain how the turd sandwich Transformers 2 makes 300,000,000+ million dollars and a truly epic movie like Watchmen performs poorly seriously WTF.
5. My top five bricks
1. KC Cr Superman
2. Green Scar
3. General Zod
4. Skrull Mrs.Marvel
5. Apocalypse
honorable mentions
Namor
Hercules
Doomsday
The General
Black Adam
DC/Marvel Ares
Supernova Thanos
The Specter

Well that gets to the definition issues the guys mentioned on the show. My idea of a brick, dial wise, is a figure with super strength, damage reducers, inconsequential range and not much purpose outside of close combat. It looks like the guys on the show were working with the same idea. Arkillo, sure, he's got range, but he's clearly more effective at close combat.

Probably because you couldn't take your kids (or possibly even your spouses) to see Watchmen. Granted, I haven't seen Transformers, but I imagine with the fast food marketing, people took their kids to see Transformers and if they knew anything about Watchmen, they left the kids at home.
Wow no love for Arkham Asylum Wonder Woman? That piece is nasty.
I have never played or played against that piece so it's kinda hard to say. I usually try to make all my "picks" be either characters I have played or have seen others play. I try not to go with characters I have actually never played or seen played. For me picking characters that way just out of speculation and with no real hands on experience with the character isn't a good way to go with a "Top whatever" list.

That is totally valid. For my two cents I have seen unskilled players destroy with that piece. Although I take it you don't like DC characters that well I recommend giving her a shot.
(Throwing my arms in the air.)
I'm super pumped. Thanks for the Shout-Out. My friends are jealous.
I hope you got the piece, Steve. I got the e-mail that it had been recieved.
Jut wanted to say to everyone thanx for listening ....when it comes to the "I cant believe so and so got left off " ... for the most part the pieces mentioned (Ms. Skrullvell , Wonder woman , etc. etc. ) i really dont consider brick pieces ... to me a brick is a damage soaking piece .. the ones mentioned to me are more dish out the damage types .. all my opinion though ..
When I think of bricks, I think of rangeless, or nearly so, figures with lots damage reducers, and offensive powers like Super Strength, Quake, and Close Combat Expert. How much damage they can inflict as opposed to how much they can take is actually irrevelent to me, well, unless one aspect is vastly inferior/superior to the other. I'd say that several of the ones you mentioned are among my personal favorites to use- SI Namor, SI Hercules, Starter Thing, Rampaging Hulk- mainly because of how affordable they are compared to bricks of old. Never heard of a figure referred to as a 'bruiser' as something different from a brick. Or is that what you meant by figures who are like bricks, but focus more on doing damage than taking damage?
The 'Zombie Hulk' thing from Ultimate X-men Requiem was just actually just some Ultimate Super-Adaptoid, called 'Assemble'.
GI Joe movie was weak but watchable. As painful as saying it might be, the Transformers movie was much much better. The big battle at that end was fairly cool, like an actual episode of the cartoon come to life. Making Baroness Duke's ex who turns good at the end both sucks and blows. Even more so, finding out that
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
her brother, whose death she blamed on Duke and made her turn evil was just pretending, became Cobra Commander, and mind controlled her was a sort of 'meh' revelation to me, though it did demonstrate what a completely twisted little piece of #### this version of CC is.
you mentiod doom and the power pack taking down hercules.
which doom did you use may i ask.
Honestly I can't remember but I am thinking LE Doom from Secret Invasion...but it could have quite possibly been the "Skin" Doom from Secret Invasion....it's been over a year since that remarkable battle.
Hey guys, good picks on the top 5 bricks, I can agree with most of them although I tend to do the opposite of Steve, I favor mostly DC (my buddy favors alot of Marvel so it keeps our collections pretty balanced)
I do enjoy listening to the top 5's because (and while most DC fans would shout out about the lack of DC love)it gives me an opportunity to learn about alot of Marvel pieces that either a) I am not familiar with or b) I just never paid attention to, and it's been forcing me to expand my collection more into marvel right now.
I wanted to say that while I know that there hasn't been alot of news lately (in the last year to be fair) there is still alot of stuff that can be discussed. I know alot of new players (that don't troll through the forums) may be interested in rules interpretations or strategies from particularly fun games that you guys played. I know i'd be interested in hearing how Steve comes up with his map ideas, the thought process behind them as well Gudda's current and future mod's.
Please don't think that I am telling you guys how to run your show or that I don't enjoy it, if I didn't I wouldn't listen, I just thought i'd throw out suggestions based on the stuff you guys talk about regularly anyways that I know I was and would be more interested to hear more about as well.
