So I see from Comic Shop News that DC is finally going to put out a T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents book. The plan is to integrate them with the standard DC universe. I don't know if this is a good idea.
First of all, the DC universe is getting crowded. Even with Didiot doing his special version of hack and slash by whacking every third DC character and their mother, there's still too many characters running around in the standard DC universe. They've added the Milestone characters and the Red Circle (Archie) comics heroes, they're attempting to integrate Doc Savage and Rima the jungle queen in. (Seriously? No widow's peak for Doc? Didiot just can't respect anything can he?)
What was the point of restoring the multiverse other then giving Didiot entire planets for his hack brigades to slaughter in in his overblown trashfests?
The reason they were stopped from running the T.H.U.N.D.E.R Agents the first time around is because they decided they'd take their usual steaming dump on the characters right out the door and the people who owned the rights to the characters wouldn't stand for it. Now it's only a matter of time before the stories degenerate and they begin to look like one of Jeph Loeb's wet dreams. (There are some sick people in charge of these books at DC and Marvel these days.)
Give these characters their own Earth to operate in and let the DC characters drop in only infrequently.
On the plus side if we finally get Clix back we might get them as clix figures.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
I want to see a story where some volcano begins to explode and every superteam comes to help. Of course You wouldn't need that many heroes so most of them would stand by and BS a bit.
This is why I always thought CoIE was one of the worst ideas in DC history. People weren't avoiding books because of the multiverse. The average comic fan can grasp that concept. If not, lend him a copy of Mirror, Mirror.
It was so cool that the JSA had their own world. Batman could get married, have a kid, get killed by the infamous Fredric Vaux?!?! (seriously, could someone at DC explain who this guy was supposed to be).
I was hoping that, with the reestablishment of the multiverse things would go back to the way they were. Not so. We still have a world with dozens of super-hero teams with more on the way. Yes it's way too crowded.
But yeah for THUNDER Agents. Hope it's a good book.
Most of what I liked about CoIE has been tossed out the window. I did like the fact that they stopped writing such lame Wonder Woman and Superman stories. I also liked how they toned down the power levels that had gotten Way out of hand.
I didn't like them killing off Barry Allen (At the time apparently permanently) and I didn't like the elimination of the multi Earth concept.
CoIE was a two edged sword. (Look where it got Katar Hol.)
The thing is, I don't trust the Didiot. It's clear he has no respect or fondness for any of the DC characters so it's pretty much a given that he's not going to care about the Thunder Agents or any of these other characters that are being brought into the DC fold.
Knowing that the Didiot is in charge fills me with a sense of dread almost akin to leaving young children in the care of a pornographer. He might have enough scruples to not take advantage but I wouldn't count on it.
