Anyone else collect the Pro-Wrestling Illustrated top 500 that comes out Octoberish? Its the only Wrestling periodical I collect. Any ways here is the top 10:
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
10) Ultimo Guerrero- only exposure to him is from when they did the TNA world cup X in 2008. Awesomeness!
9) Sting- Wow! OK! Has done alot in the last 12 months. But to be that old and break the top 10? Nice indeed.
8) C.M. Punk- Truly an awesome athlete. Good to see him getting the recognition. I hate that they are making him a Villian though. Anyone who runs off Jeff POS Hardy (kayfabee) gets #1 in my book!
7) Hiroshi Tanahashi- know the name but, I haven't seen him....
6) Nigel Mc Guinness- Again, haven't seen him wrestle as ROH doesn't broadcast to Vegas....But what I've heard is good. Will see him soon enough though as he just got signed to WWE!!!!
5) Randy Orton- a really talented villan, who has peaked allready. It's all downhill from here buddy!
4) Edge- and speaking of peaked and over used....Next! At least we don't have to see him anytime soon!
3) John Cena- has accopmlished alot. Again, next!
2) Chris Jericho- Has held every frggin' title that there is! Still can put on a show and piss-off the audience everytime he does a show.
1) Trpile-H- .....what do I say here. Do we really need to beat Ric Flair's record for holding a Heavyweight title? Really? Why?
I'm sure gonna get some flammer posts for this! Oh, well! Bring it on!
So if I got the count right:
WWE = 6 spots (the first 5)
ROH = 1 spot
TNA = 1 spot
Other = 2 spots
May need some updating, but the point is they have the WWE dominating the list. IIRC, last year's had Angle at #2 and two non WWE wrestler's in the Top 5. And half of the Top 8 were the champions from the other leagues. TNA, ROH, etc.
WWE is not that above and beyond the other professional leagues. The others, TNA especially, should be represented better.

Well lets see...
2007-2008 PWI 500:
1) Randy Orton- this year ranked #5 WWE
2) Kurt Angle- ranked #12 TNA
3) HHH- ranked #1 WWE
4) Samoa Joe- ranked #29 Ouch! TNA
5) Edge- ranked #4 WWE
6) Undertaker-ranked #11 WWE
7) Shawn Michaels- ranked #14 WWE
8) Nigel Mc Guinness- ranked #6 ROH
9) John Cena- ranked #3 WWE
10) Shinsuke Nakamura- ranked#24 IWGP
Bleh the PWI 500 has always been a joke of sorts. In my humble opinion....
#1. Chris Jericho -- This guy is without a doubt the top star WWE has right now. His interviews own, he can create heat just by standing in a ring and he briefly held the World Title twice in late '08. Plus his series of matches with Misterio? Classics. It helped bring back the value of the IC Title in my opinion.
#2. Randy Orton -- In my eyes, he's right behind Jericho as the top heel in the WWE. In fact he's starting to evolve into what I call the "Steve Austin" phenomenon. By that I mean no matter what he and Legacy do, they always seem to get the biggest pops of the night. They may have no choice but to turn him face soon.
#3. Nigel McGuiness -- Held the ROH Title for 17 months. Defended the title literally all over the world. From Japan to Italy to Canada he's been busy ever since wiing the title. I love ROH and I think with some money behind them they could compete at least on the level (if not higher) than TNA. Glad he's signed with WWE, hopefully they'll team him with William Regal.
#4. John Cena -- Like him or love him, he puts butts in seats. I'm of the therory that WWE went to a PG rating to not only get more kids watching, but to keep Cena from getting boo'd out of every place he wrestles. A workhorse who with the right person (Edge & Shawn Michaels for example) can have an exciting match.
#5. Shawn Michaels -- Sure he's hurting and takes off a lot of time, but Shawn Michaels is probably the best in ring wrestler since....Well since ever. If this guy can make people like Chris Masters look good then you know he's somethign special. His match with the Undertaker at WM was the high point of the show.
That's my 5. I think Undertaker would rate higher if his injuries hadn't slowed him down so much. But as it is, when he does wrestle, expect a trememdous match. I expect him to make CM Punk look like a million bucks on the next PPV.
Ultimo Guerrero & Tanahashi are great to watch as well but I dunno about being in the top ten.
but what do I know, I love a sport where near naked men wrestle each other for gold belts
Every year the PWI 500 has wrestlers with funny names. Here's a couple:
Shockwave the Robot (#500)
Hook Bomberry (#472)
Cha Cha Chance (#467)
Igotta Brewski (#464) and no, I didn't just make that up!
Way Cool (#456)
Grim Reffer (#425)
Fredrick of Hollywood (#418) that's just awesome!
Here's one for you Clix fans: Robin Knightwing (#415)
and last years winner:Freak Nastty (#414 this year and 416 last year)
