The was during the 1st arc in Spider-Man Marvel Knights. The bolts actually raised up whenever he powered up so, he still had his classic look. I think the first story arc was actually 12 issues long but, I think he 1st appeared around issues 4-6.

I agree with the general consensus here: Electro's original costume is by far the best, and that hideous blue number by may-he-Byrne the worst.
As I recall, when Gene Colan drew Electro in Daredevil (Vol. 1, of course) #'s 87-89, his mask looked...subtlely different, somehow. I no longer own the issues to check, though.
classic is the only way to go, especially with Electro......Mysterio's new "ultimate" costume may be the exception to redo being lame
I actually liked Mysterio's new look when Ben Reilly was Spider-Man and Marvel decided to give Spider-Man's villains either new looks or gender changes like the female Doc Ock. His new look looked more menacing and enigmatic. It was almost like something Steve Ditko would've drawn for Dr. Strange. It was Dormamu-ish.

Ultimate Electro has to one of the stupidest looking characters ever. Bald head and nothing more than a purplish/blue jumpsuit. Horrible redesign. How lame...
