Hello all! First, I want to thank everyone for the feedback. It's always fun to know what others think of my ideas. After having test played the scenario, it became obvious to me and others that some changes were needed. Aside from that, everyone who participated in the event (our good and honorable hair10 among them) agreed that it was an enjoyable one. As it turned out, the Black Lanterns were a bit too powerful, so it became necessary to tone them down a tad bit. As with every new idea, it will probably require more revision over time, but overall this new set of rules seems to work for our group. Granted the new version of this comes across a bit wordy, most of that is filled with examples and answers to questions people inquired about at the event. Overall, most didn't find it to be that complicated to play, but I leave that judgement to all the clix players out there. Regardless, we enjoyed it, and have planned on running it again in the future. I hope everyone will keep posting comments and ideas concerning this, because I really do enjoy seeing what others think. Thanks again everyone, and let us all rejoice in the return of our favorite game, HEROCLIX!!!
RULES
Each player will build two different teams: a 700 point team of heroes, and a 500 point team of Black Lanterns (DC figures only for this event). For the purposes of this event, members of the Black Lantern team all have the Black Lantern Corps keyword (counts as a non-generic keyword), and a theme team can be constructed per the Theme Team rules in the Heroclix handbook. Additional rules are as follows:
“The Blackest Night Falls from the Skies…” The Black Lantern team must consist of characters that are currently dead (and by extension have been highly prophesized as being members of the Black Lantern Corps, if they are not all ready) in the DC universe (see list below). This event is restricted to figures with a base size of single or double only (no 2x2 base-sized characters or larger). P.S. Due to lack of variability in DC figures among some of our players, I’ve included in the character list figures that were once dead in the DC universe (and are currently alive or just haven't been mentioned in the story line at all) that may also be used as Black Lanterns.
“The Darkness Grows as All Light Dies…” Before the map role/first turn role is made for each game, both players will each role two die. The person with the lower role gets to designate which team they wish to play for the game: Heroes or the Black Lanterns. The person with the higher role plays the opposite team.
“We Crave Your Hearts, and Your Demise…” All Black Lanterns for this event possess the following trait: Black Lanterns possess the Steal Energy and Perplex named powers throughout their dials (pogs included), and also possess the winged boot symbol on their movement stats (along with whatever movement symbol is all ready printed on the dial). When the Black Lanterns use Perplex, each individual figure can target only its own combat values (i.e. each figure possesses self-perplex). The Steal Energy and Perplex powers cannot be countered or canceled. If a figure would receive Perplex at any point on its dial (or a special power that grants the figure Perplex or some variation there of), then the standard Perplex power supercedes the self-perplex granted by this ability. Example: An experienced DEO Agent who is part of the Black Lantern team possesses the self-perplex ability granted by this rule on her first click. On her second click, she gains the standard Perplex power. The standard Perplex power is the one used in this situation versus the self-perplex ability, and can be countered or canceled as such until the figure loses the power on her dial at which point she regains the self-perplex.
“By My Black Hand,” The Black Hand, being the herald of the ultimate master behind the Black Lanterns, possesses the following two traits (overwriting the trait granted by “We Crave Your Hearts, and Your Demise…”): 1.) The Black Hand possesses Running Shot, Charge, Steal Energy, and Perplex full dial. He can target other characters with perplex normally, or he can target himself and other characters with the Black Lantern Corp keyword and modify their combat values by -2 or +2. The Black Hand does not take pushing damage, and his powers and abilities cannot be countered or canceled.
2.) The Skull of Batman: You may choose to give the Black Hand a power action for a ranged attack for this turn. This attack has a range of 6, requires a clear line of fire, and does not require an attack roll. Roll one six-sided die. If the result of the die roll is 1, the target of the attack is immediately changed into a Black Lantern. (See “The Dead Shall Rise!” for rules regarding characters changed during game play)
“The Dead Shall Rise!” During game play, any time a Black Lantern eliminates a hero, that hero is immediately seized by a black power ring and rises to join the forces of the Black Lanterns (feats included and starting at full dial once more). The figure becomes friendly to your opponent’s force and an enemy to your Hero force. The figure must then be placed in the Black Lantern starting area. The figure then must wait until the beginning of the Black Lantern’s next turn before making an action (other than a free action). If your Hero force manages to re-eliminate the figure that you lost, then you get double the points for the KO (double the base cost only, and then add on the feats). If the turned figured manages to eliminate other figures on the Hero force, then the Black Lantern force receives half the base point cost (add on feats after the base value is halved) for the kill. Only the original, constructed Black Lantern team (in other words not including figures that you turn during game play) receives full points for their kills.

Batman – Due to the fact that there is currently a Batman in the Blackest Night storyline, but Bruce Wayne is also not among the living, only the Bruce Wayne LE figure from Legacy is restricted to the Black Lantern team, and only the Crisis LE Batman (Jean-Paul Valley) and the Rookie Arkham Asylum Batman (Terry McGinnis) are restricted to the Heroes team. All other Batmen in the game can be played as either Heroes (in which case they’re Dick Grayson) or as a Black Lantern (Bruce Wayne).
Generics – For the purposes of this event, generics (non-named figures) can count as either Heroes or Black Lanterns. Examples include Thugs, DEO Agents, Gotham City PD, etc.
