Clixcast: Episode 44 Thoughts on BIBTB/Organized Play! This week find Steve and Gudda eagerly waiting on Hammer of Thor. They butt some heads on keywords and Team Abilities. 2nd week talking about a dead Punisher too! Need to get off that subject. It's like beating a dead Frank.
i don't use key words that much and its seems when ever i think of a theme team it dose not fit the key words like my summers team would not work with the key words since Corsair dose not have any key words other them Starjammers
I think the ability to cancel a BFC is far more powerful than the map roll or PC perks.
As far as making no affiliation figs wild cards, tempting, but broken.
True. Most games we play here and there....we don't use BFC anyhow, so my experiece canceling them is limited. But you can only do it once, per "total play" So only one game out of a series of games can you do this.
Yeah we know it's broken. Would have been nice from the start though.
Not to sound like an ###, but it'd be nice if you guys could come up with text transcripts of your podcasts.
I mean...I'm deaf and I haven't even been able to enjoy a single podcast of yours.
Sucks.
Unfortunately our podcasts aren't scripted. Neither I or Gudda have the time to transcribe a podcast. We barely have the time to even get the podcasts done. If we could, believe me we would. perhaps ManofCopper will jump in and transcribe some more. We are definitely not trying to exclude anyone.
If I can figure out a way to get it transcribed for free...short of gudda or I doing it I will.
Looking at the "Dark Avengers" keyword and existing sets, I think this would fit for both Ares and the Sentry. The way they appear in 'clix form is the same as they appear in the comic. The other Dark Avengers? Not so much...

Sorry.
Great cast!
Yeah, I've just been having a lots of tests lately, and my studying has consequently made me less active than I used to be. Organic chemistry has been killing me and then spitting on my corpse as it steals my girlfriend away from me at the funeral. My third and final test of the week will be Friday, so I will see if I can do some transcribing after that!
Can you read Japanese? I can read some Japanese (only a little), but you might have little trouble reading it. Also what kind do you want? There is lot of different kinds of Manga or anima.
I also think Heroclix should have manga and anima characters too. Unluckly they don't sell heroclix here. Maybe this is the way to get Japanese interested in the game. Most Japanese know the major characters. (Superman, Batman, X-men and Spider-man) But that's about it. So if heroclix include manga characters, we could get heroclix here. Maybe in a future podcast you might try to come up the top 5 manga and anima characters. Let hear what people like to see if their an international set. (or one that came form Japan?)
For keywords, just say I think its a snapshot at a time for that character. And if wizkids don't make that character again, sorry.
Have a great day.
MRush
Hehehe! LOL! "I can't stop laughing...", just need to catch my breath...
Seriously folks...If the powers that "be & choose sets" are reading.
Please keep any potential "Manga" Clix to Indy Clix only... That could very well be "my" killing blow to stop buying bricks of clixs for the very first time ever. The last thing I want to see is a manga clix in any of the boosters I happen to open up. Only my opinion...
Nuff' Said!
Gudda - I think I will agree with you. Keeping it within a "living", comic accurate based theme would solve the issue you two brought up.
Although personally, I don't see theme teams as a problem. It doesn't hinder the game and appropriately uses one of my clixs actions to use the Probability Roll. The map thing is one of the options I never get to use because our maps are laid out in advance by our venue...I think one of you two mentioned that as a solution (I think Steve) to the overpowered Theme Team options.
As for Alternate Team Abilities for the Wildcards and Doom Teams...that would be great to begin with! Until they fixed the Shield and the Xmen Team Abilities they were utterly useless TA's (well maybe not useless but not very, very, very good). As you guys mentioned, the Brotherhood and Avengers TA's just plainly suck Heroclix balls.
But why stop there? I would like to suggest creating two choices for each Team Ability for players to choose from before rolling dice or choosing a map.
Would it complicate things further? Sure...but in the long run I believe it would allow for more "Thematic" or appropriate choices.
Examples for Alternate or Choice number 2 before starting to play:
Avengers, Brotherhood Teams and Justice League: These TA's allow characters with any movement powers, showing clearly on their dial, to carry up to one or two characters, depositing them before they attack or at the end of their movement. If at the end of this movement, the character who carried another character has only one action token, place a second token on him. This second action token does not cause push damage.
This represents how effective these teams are when they're are working as a team. The clix with the movement power is a "Transporter", until he runs out of his movement power...(Hello Quicksilver or Nightcrawler!)
Wildcards or, Spidey, Doom, Legion of Superheroes and Calculator Teams: Any Team with a character with these TA's can have a single use of Perplex once per turn, as long as there remains one character with this TA on the their team still on the board.
This represents how effective having a Wildcard team member can be to a successful encounter in a story. Many instances during a comic storyline, having a "Spidey" or "Calculator" teammate suddenly show up unexpectedly gave that team an advantage over their opponents.
How do the points work out? I'm not sure how points are assigned in this game. Are some of these alternate TA's overpowering? It may appear at first overpowering but I think not.
I have other Team Ability Alternates ideas, just wanted to air the onces i really, really don't like to use at this time. Two more Alternate TA's next time!
Thanks again for a great Podcast!
Mocker
P.S. Even though you clearly went out of your way to appear more neutral Steve (kuddos), I think... After this next storyline is over, I'm hoping this writer "leaves". Then maybe, I'll hazard a look at the Punisher once again.

I agree with you on most of your statements, except SHIELD that was a great team ability before and is even better before. I played very good SHIELD matches back in the day and still to this day. Out of all the Team abilities that is probably the one I have used the most over the years. I think Gudda was the neutral one on the Punisher thing, I am totally against Frankencastle and the way they took Frank down.
Two team ability choices is a neat concept but i think it would be getting things a little to complicated, but probably no more complicated than things are getting now.
TEEN TITANS would make a great Anime/Manga Clix. It would be good for a THEMED BOX SET but not an actual set release.
I use keywords all the time, but just the Non-generic ones. Things like detective, teen, scientist and mystic are too easy to min/max out. On the other hand, using a good non-generic team feels great when you win. I like the map roll bonus and the pc granted. I also allow players to use current rosters for the theme team bonus, like the most recent Mighty Avengers. Last week I saw a great League of Assasins and Apocalypse team. It's nice that most of the players I play with go non-generic as well.
