I really hate when I buy a comic with something appealing on the cover and have it turn out that the story has nothing to do with what made me get the book. I bought the later issue of the Teen Titans which was a Blackest Night tie-in. Front and center was the zombie Hank Hall/Hawk. I loved the Hawk and Dove series and I will pretty much buy anything with them in it.
But the issue, while it was a Blackest Night tie-in, had nothing to do with what was on the cover. In fact I don't think any character on the cover was in the book. I don't know if this happens intentionally or not, but I really get a case of buyers' remorse.
Funny: I've been going through THIS and you wouldn't believe the covers there.
So many Avengers "threatening to kill" other Avengers; so many villains oversized and grappling with the Avengers; so many "shocked" faces; so much hilarity there!

It's hard to believe that just 18 years after Marvel's 30th Anniversary (in 1992) we are coming up on their 70th .
Well, those covers say 30th anniversary of the Avengers. Marvel Comics is evolved from Timely Comics which started in 1939.

Timely wasn't, and still isn't, Marvel, just as Marvel was never Timely (nor Atlas for that matter).
This 70th Anniversary nonsense is just a gimmick to compete with DC's longevity.
