So I am supposed to be getting Valkyrie this week so I am stuck deciding between breaking theme and using too much cardboard...here's the 2 possible teams...
Valkyrie SR
Gargoyle
Clea
Valkyrie Generic
= 300 on the dot...but no theme
But I get the bonus of Support which could really be a saving grace especially when I can lower the defense of who I'm healing with the TA
And I might not need theme PC with Gargoyle
And I can still choose 3 mighty BFCs...Ordinary Day for sure, probably Malice because of the Regen/Support combo and Deep Shadows...I would like to stay just 6 from the opposition...heavy range could be a big issue against me...
The other option is...
Valkyrie SR
Gargoyle
Clea
+ a bunch of cards and an 8 point pog
I get theme but I don't know if it's better than having the generic Valkyrie.
I could use Contingency Plan, Alias, Takedown and some other stuff to make the trio more threatening but the Support seemed pretty strong on the other team...
Any ideas?
I have until Friday to decide or make a better 300 point team...
Ace of the Secret Society of Supervillains Clan!
Yellowjacket (Human) - 100 points of P-Y-M-P - Sweet Papa Doom/BPW
How about Valkyrie + Double time & SI Dr. Strange. You can do some serious move and attack and end up with Valk blocking LOS to Dr. Strange who can shoot through her the following turn.

Yeah replacing the Valkyrie with Howard gives you 2 Prob rolls and a willpower fig to schlep the prob tokens onto. I don't know, I'm just not a big fan of support cause it's so easy to shut down if you're ahead on the opponent, and if you're not ahead on them, they probably don't need the support.

Here's a 400 point Defenders team that I just thought of that looks pretty nasty:
SI Dr Strange 149
HoT Valkyrie 145
Clea 59
Howard the Duck 35
+ Contingency plan 12
probably not helping but 300 is too low for defenders to be effective.
Pshaw. If you cannot make the Defenders work in 300 points, you're not trying hard enough. Sharing defense is even more powerful in low point totals where there's less room for support powers.

Two things:
1. The Thunderbolts are 290 points together.
2. He wants to use Valkyrie. Let him.
Valkyrie and SI Strange look like a potent combination to me. Have Valkyrie act as meat shield and do hit-n-run attacks while Strange snipes with his Eye of Agamotto. It's better with Clea and Howard tacked on, but the two of them alone should do pretty well.

QFT!
As a frequent JSA player I can verify the truth in this statement.
A lot of people at local venue seem to consider 800 pts to be a basic minimum in team building and I get frustrated by this. I think you need to be more strategic in your team building for lower point games. I wish more people would consider 200 pt games.

///agreed.
200 points requires another level of strategy. PLus, the games usually go faster, which means I can play more of them.
coming soon : nu52 Hercules
