How does the shield team ability work with running shot? somebody told me that if the person making the running shot ends their movement next to the shield peoples, then they can boost them up, either way.
What doesn't feel right about that, is it seems like a mid action action. To me, it feels like flash using his outwit in the middle of his hypersonic attack.
The reason I'm asking this is because of the new Captain America. Shield keyword means he's going to be hanging out with his buddy Nick Fury, and I want to make sure I'm playing things right.
SHIELD TA has always been an exception to the "no actions during other actions" mandate. In order to use SHIELD (either version) you must be adjacent to the Shield figure at the time of attack.
So for RS you'd have to stop and be adjacent. For HSS you can stop next to them mid move, make your attack with the SHIELD bonus and then keep moving. You can't use a SHIELD figures TA on a HSS figure that is carrying the Shield TA figure, as the figure is off the board until after the HSS move is over.
Keep in mind NAAT for carried Shield figs. If a Shield fig has been carried they can't be assigned the action for the damage increase part of the power. You can RS carrying a Shield TA fig and get the range bonus though.

Tarnish
This is correct.

By "start the action" there, so you mean start the power action of Running Shot or start the free ranged combat action?
The only one of those which is right is the ranged combat action. As Tarnish points out, adjacency needs to happen at the time of the attack.
Also, there's no problem with using it during HSS, provided the conditions Tarnish mentioned are met.
So boosting ranged damage (as a power action) or range value (as a free action) is worthless?
I've seen a mob of SHIELD, backed up by a single big piece like Sinister Nick Fury, take down a feat up E-2 Superman and pit crew. And it was mostly because the long range Snipers were boosted to big damage AND long range by all their nearby buddies.
My buddy took down my Fortituded/Protecteded Superman Prime with a combination of Guardsmen and Gotham City Detectives. Nasty combination. Up Range, up Attack, up Damage with Enhancement and/or SHIELD, plus they are all Police keyword for the PC bonus. It was a 700 point game. I played Sinestro Corps, he had AA Zoom and Crisis Nightwing in addition to the aforementioned figures.
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........
I thought so, but was forced to concede he doesn't in a game because all of the players there don't know the rules very well. additionally, they didn't want my spiderman to be able to use meteorite to smash ulik good, but i refused to take that away from good 'ol spidey.
This is helpful. What happened to me once was my opponent started his running shot decided midway he would activate the shield ta on one of the figures he was moving adjacent to. Personally it seemed a bit of a reach. If it had been activate shield ability without figure adjacent and then do running shot ending adjacent I can see how that would work. I think that this is what is being referred to? Unless the shield ta can be activated mid running shot? If this is the case I need an explanation for that.
