He could be and should be so much more. Can you imagine him taking an onslaught from Wolverine, Hulk, Thing and Captain America assisted by Dr. Strange and then killing them all? Me neither. Of his 10 clicks 1 is useless, 2 are immobile Sleep/Defend/Support clicks, 1 is naked TK support, 3 are a bit more support and in fact his only 3 somewhat strong offensive clicks are his last ones. And as a supporting figure he is also of questionable value. 8 AV with Support can have trouble with all the 18 Defenses of today and his own 18-19 Defend isn't what it used to be. And aside from that his AV peaks at 10 and his DV at 17. The sculpt cannot really be judged since it's way way wrong, but that's the way of those LE's.
All that said, I still like him. Only feels so much like a wasted opportunity.
It's not entirely accurate if at all. This is supposed to represent a Thor who took over the Earth and wiped out all resistance to his rule. I really wanted to see an uber Thor in this set, but I'll take what I can get. That being said, it's not a bad piece. A real finesse piece, you simply have to play him with good support and secondary attacks, less the Odinson get trounced. In a large point game "Hammer of Thor" only game, I fielded him, Odin, a Valkyrie, Gharskyt, and an Asgardian Warrior and ended up winning. If you have it, try using the special Mjolnir object and hope he can be "worthy" again.
Definitely a finesse piece, Thor the reigning could prove a little hard to use effectively, but with a team geared around him, should be devastating.
Bonus points for the indomitable novablast horror, which I'll doubtless have to face at least once.
just amazing play him with amora, a couple of asgardians warrior and a valkirie. just terror in the battlefield he take out a legacy ares without a single damage just wonderful
A finesse piece as others have pointed out. If you're facing him, you need to know the dial, or be prepared to hit that 18 or 19. Obviously the key is keeping him on the front half of his dial. Though, if he does get tagged past Odinsleep he's got a few nice tricks up his sleeve. Would've liked to see Super Strength, but I understand why it's not there. The argument that he isn't comic accurate because he couldn't take out Hulk, Iron Man, Cap, etc together is a complete farce. You tell me ONE 168 point piece that could take down 500 points and then we'll talk. Few standard pieces in HeroClix are designed for one vs. a team. Stop looking at it from that perspective.

I had a lot of fun with this piece. Nobody is expecting Mind Control when they see Thor on the field. Definately a good piece for an Asgardian Theme Team. My only main issue with this piece is the fact that he is a :m-boot: ground punder instead of :m-wing: flyer. I end up forgetting he can't fly and unintentionally cheat using him as a flyer when I play him since almost every other Thor piece out there is a flyer. I'd like a second click of Invulnerable up front as well for when he MC's a 100+ pt figure.
This was the first piece I got in tourney play and he is a force to be reckoned with!! Today's game he took two rounds of odinsleep and never took another damage after that! You have to know that dial when using him or playing against otherwise you can really be hurting. Great piece one of my favorites.
I like this dial. It's quirky and yet seems to fit a short period of Thor's life. Sure,we could just have an UBER Thor who is stronger and deals more damage, but I think it is refreshing to have this. Mind Control? Probability Control? Hypersonic? Those were powers I never thought I would see Thor have. I am only puzzled as to why he doesnt come with the Power Cosmic TA or some SP that says his powers cant be countered, because a sleeping Thor is gonna be a huge target for your opponents, and having some Batman knock him from slumber would not be too satisfying. LOL I will have to put at least a Protected card on him so he doesn't get fully smacked around.
I get the fact that comic accuracy is skewed in the terms of game balance and the like, but considering that this is supposed to represent Thor during his time as Lord of the Earth, I would have expected the LE to pack more power than the Experienced version (which I'm admittedly disappointed in). If they dubbed this figure something else or had it portray Thor from a time in his life where he wasn't significantly more powerful than his standard self, it would have made more sense. It's not a bad piece, just not accurate enough to represent "The Reigning", imo.
I'm have sort of been trying to figure out why people like this figure so much. I just got him in the last tournament, and I'm looking at him thinking... What am I supposed to do with this guy? I've never seen him played, but I don't think you get enough for the points. His first couple clicks seem too strange to use. Mind control? Fine. Pulse wave? Could be his most redeeming quality, but pulse wave can be hard to use effectively, in my opinion. One click of Invulnerability on the first half? Meh. Disappointing. 10 attack and 3 damage can easily be found on characters costing about 50-70 points. But then I started thinking... At the end of his dial is really where he shines... and when he's at the end of his dial, if you've played a good game... The opponents points are ripe for the picking, and He'll TOTALLY clean up. Those last 3 clicks could be a game winner. Still... nothing would be worse than landing on one of those useless clicks and having your opponent completely ignore you, while you waste 3 turns to push to a different click. I dunno. I probably won't ever use him.
Any Thor is usually going to be tough, but I'll take the 226 common anyday over this guy. Got an opportunity to play against him using a 40 point robot team and let's just say it was Ultron reigning within a few rounds and at the end of the game. God, that Ultron's a beast!
