When targeting multiple figures in a Mind Control ranged attack, can you choose after the roll who you control?
Example:
Ult Prof X triple targets figures with a 17, 18, and 19 defense. To not take feedback damage that would almost kill the prof, if I rolled high enough could I choose to only control the 19 defense character and leave the other two alone?
I'm thinking no, I just want to be sure. Main reason I think not is unlike regular ranged attacks where you target multiple figs and split the damage after the roll, all those figures are still technically "hit," just being dealt 0 damage.
Slightly misleading. A figure dealt 0 damage is still hit... it is just unaffected by the attack. COuld be important for other game effects though.
If a critical hit is rolled, for example... especially if the target you decide "not to hit" is a Mystic.
What I mean is that critical hits add to damage dealt. So, with a multi-target attack, you can choose to not use any of your damage value on a target, but the critical hit will still deal 1 damage to said target. So, if it is a Mystic without any damage reducers, you'd damage it for 1 click and then you'd eat the Mystics damage.

Incap works this way, too.
Thanks for the backup Quebbster.
Whoa whoa there Normalview. Are you telling me that when that character hits another with 2 targets then all characters are affected?
What I mean is that I had a situation with Odin today where he ran and shot 3 of my characters (3 targets) and got a critical hit. He did 4 damage at the time (plus 1 for the crit hit) and it was ruled that he only benefits form 1 extra damage for the attack. From what you're saying.....Should Odin have dealt 1 damage to the three different characters and then distributed the 4 damage? If so I feel kinda bad.

yes. Everyone would take 1 click of damage (not optional) and then devide the 4.
If you triple target 3 mystics with Incap it would be more beneficial to crit miss than crit hit.
You compare the results of the roll all targetted characters. If the result is a crit hit than all targets are hit critically. deal one to each and divy up the rest as you see fit.
What is the current ruling on whether or not multiple mind-controlled figures can attack one another?
It hasn't changed recently, as far as I know.
You cannot attack friendly figures. Until an MCed character has completed its action, it is considered friendly to your force.
