Also - goddamn, the Agents of Atlas were robbed in Hammer of Thor! I thought that their dials were pretty good, but they're actually quite underpowered compared to their exploits in this title...
Jimmy Woo: Pretty damn cool in Agents of Atlas, pretty bland in Hammer of Thor.
Marvel Boy: In Agents of Atlas Bob is constantly creating mental links between his team-mates, synthesizing technological solutions, and creating force fields. Some Perplex (even group or multi-Perplex) and Barrier would be suitable here.
M-11: The main powers missing here are Flurry (he tends to flight with his arms extended and whirling around like a thrashing machine) and Pulse Wave (his death ray often hits multiple opponents simultaneously). Six range is probably okay to reflect the stretchy arms.
Namora: For a woman who was giving Ms. Marvel trouble and has been compared to Namor, I don't think she should be half his cost. Attack value is about right, but could use slightly higher damage, and perhaps Aquaman's special ability (Toughness that becomes Invulnerability in water terrain).
Gorilla Man: Aside from giving Ken an extra , he's about right.
Venus: Doesn't seem as effective with her Incapacitate special power as she's been shown in Agents of Atlas. Deserves the symbol.
Temugin: I've come to quite like the guy. Shame we don't have him in Hammer of Thor.
Anyway, I've bought the first two hardcovers, and they're really great. Depending on how the Avengers mess shakes down, this may be my new favourite Earth-based team.
I've only read the Thunderbolts issues that featured the AoA so far, but they're really making me want to read it more. In terms of HoT dials, I'm actually okay with Namora's lower point value since she is good for her cost (not Namor point efficient, but still decent) and since it makes the team cheaper (and, therefore, easier to field in regular events). The one figure I have the biggest problem with is Marvel Boy. From what I understand he really doesn't do much (if anything) on the frontlines of the battlefield. Yet, his HoT dial doesn't reflect his nature as a supporting member. As you mentioned, some Perplex/Barrier would be appropriate.
For me, they're a rarity in today's Marvel - a book and team that's written well, but still is very true to their original pre-Marvel Age roots. There really seems to be a concerted effort (both in their own titles, and in the new Uranian limited series) to build upon their history and integrate it into the new direction for the team rather than eliminating, ham-handedly retconning, or mocking that past.
As for their HeroClix representations, a good ATA Feat would probably help caputre some of Marvel Boy's ability to coordinate his teammates a bit better, at least. I find it a bit strange that his piece is supposed to be a veteran incarnation, as his costume and power-set would be more in-line with his flashback/1950s appearances, where he seemed to be a more active combatant, and somewhat less powerful than his current Uranian version. I hope a Uranian unique makes an appearance in the next few sets.
I was actually lucky enough to have the issue of What If? this team appeared in when I was a kid. While I liked it and reread it often, I never dreamed they'd one day be revived as a team and get their own comic. As you'd expect, I have been all over the newer minis and the series since they first launched.
The Agents of Atlas are a great team with a cool vibe and I love that Marvel seems to be behind them 100%. In the comics that came out on Wednesday, 1/20/10, they appeared in no less than 3 different comics (Incredible Hercules, Avengers vs Agents of Atlas, and Thunderbolts). That is not 3 appearances in a month, that's 3 appearances in one week.
I am considering getting a dragon from the D&D minis game and trying to paint him into a mod of Lao (I can't remember if that's the dragon's name or not).
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
More and more I'm convinced that Jeff Parker is going to be the 2010's Kurt Busiek in terms of super-fun-to-read comics. Agents of Atlas, when it was coming out, was my favorite Marvel title. I just love the characters so much. Wait till you read issue #11...that Human Robot is a HOOT!
I'm really enjoying Parker's other current work too: Spider-Man: 1602, Underground, Thunderbolts, and that Fall of the Hulks Alpha One-Shot was stellar! The guy's a genius.
Welcome to the club. Knowing the AoA were coming in HoT got me to read their first trade. I have loved them ever since.
Clix has been a vehicle for me to find out about decent comics. Clix is how I started reading Ultimates (before Loeb turned the universe to ####), for example.

I could buy that. As I was reading yet another scene where Bob turns everybody invisible or covers them with an illusion, I thought "Man, these guys all need Shape Change".

That would be great - especially if accompanied by Mr Lao (a dragon with Perplex, how can you go wrong?) and Temugin (a teleporting martial artist - could be a great dial). Maybe a cheap Derek Khanata.
They're cool, I just wish they let 3D Man be part of the team.
All the garbage retcons Marvel is doing, then when they have a cool one they go "Oh no, can't have that!"
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.

I guess "cool" is in the eye of the beholder. I don't mind one bit that 3D Man didn't get included in the Agents of Atlas roster.
