I haven't picked up a Marvel comic in a loooong time. I would browse through them at my local comic book store and would feel that they weren't worth my 4 bucks. Cap was still dead, Tony still unredeemed, Thor was back but got exiled from Asgard, too many Hulks running around, etc., etc. (I only read about Marvel stuff on Wikipedia now). For a couple of years now, the only books I've been reading were DC (mainly the Green Lantern books). The only Marvel books worth reading, in my opinion, are "cosmic" Marvel books (Annihilation, GotG).
Then last week, out of curiosity, I picked up Siege #2. Man, was I blown away!
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
I knew that Cap was back, but it was nice to finally see him back in action. I never really liked Daken, and it was great to see him dealt with. And Sentry doing that? If he doesn't get his @$$ handed to him at the end of this arc, I'm dropping Marvel again. I initially had nothing but love for that character, but the writers ruined him (just like they did Tony) so much for me that I want him dead. I know they're just going to blame it on the Void.
The best part to me, though, is Jarvis handing that suitcase to Cap. I'm kinda hoping he puts the armor on before he gives it to Tony. I hope Marvel doesn't drop the ball on this one.
Are there any other "mainly" DC fans (I know a lot of us follow both universes) out there who feel the same way about Siege?
To be honest, I'm trade-waiting on Siege. I love that Marvel is working its way to the Heroic Age, but I'm burned out on Marvel events.
Civil War had major impacts and took Tony Stark in new directions that gave the rich boy more depth and complexity than he had in years. Secret Invasion on the other hand was a one-trick pony done ad nauseum and found the most contrived way to put Norman Osborn in charge. The most interesting thing that was going during Dark Reign was Fury's secret war with Hydra and that has nothing to do with anything in Dark Reign.
And say what you will about Blackest Night. At least the dynamics of that change as the event progresses.
Great Scott! I've been doing this for over 10 years?!

You also forgot about House Of M and Avengers: Disassembled. Siege is, what, part six in the story? Ugh...

I'm a DC guy, but I could care less about Siege. I currently enjoy cosmic Marvel, Deadpool: Merc w/ a Mouth, Avengers the Initiative, and X-Force.
I had to choose following either Siege or Realm of Kings, so I went with the cosmic choice. While Brian Bendis's writing style is somewhat similar to Geoff Johns, Bendis draws it out too much for too long. He'd make a great daily soap opera writer, but I've had my fill of Bendis in the comics.

I've always been more of a DC fan than a Marvel fan. But Siege isn't too bad.
And I think it's way better than Blackest Night & infinitly better than Final Crisis.....
And I soo wanted to see Taskmaster get one-shotted by Thor the other week in the Inititive.
I should've flipped through it 1st instead of just buying it.
Too bad niether happened.
Oh well, Siege will make for an awesome HC mega-pt brawl. And Taskmaster won't be walking away from it this time.
I say why choose between DC and Marvel? I love them both. I just picked up the TPB for the Guardians of the Galaxy, Blackest Night, and Civil War. All I have to say is...WOW! I think these titles are doing (or did) wonders for the parent companies. And I think Heroclix should make all those characters into figures.

So did I! But don't worry, there's still one issue of Siege left (and I bet it'll be dragged in Initiative and other titles for a while too) and Thor is already making a comeback. Frying Daken in one shot was good enough start for me.
