When the Opened Hydrant special object is placed, you cannot place other objects within the 3 square radius it creates water terrain.
What my question is; If you place the Opened Hydrant near an object (that has already been placed.) within the 3 square radius, does it destroy that object?
Similar to outwitting a character that is holding an object and is on hindering terrain. When you cancel that characters Super Strength, the object drops in that characters square. Since an object cannot be placed in a square that is not open clear terrain, the object is destroyed.
Does this work for the Opened Hydrant? The Hyrdant creates water terrain within 3 squares of clear terrain. The previously placed object is sitting in clear terrain within that 3 square radius. Is the object destroyed?

No it would not go away, they can not be placed in hindering at the start but they can be put there later in the game.
If I'm correct, the objects you place don't actually activate until the beginning of the first turn. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so.
I do know that Battlefield Conditions don't take effect until the first turn, and so do Feats.
That's the reason why you can't use Wild Card TA's to switch to another TA to make it a prerequisite for a feat, because you can't copy a TA before the beginning of the game.

well some BFC's do take place before the first turn.

I just want to point out this line of reasoning is flawed. The only time objects are removed from the game (other than bashing characters with them or destroying them, of course ) is when a Super Strength character would somehow drop them on top of another object. Dropping objects in hindering terrain or even placing objects on top of other objects via non-Super Strength means (TK, Arcade's SP, Rampaging Hulk's SP, etc) are all fine.
The clear terrain caveat is only for initial placement at the start of the game.
