Ok, we've got some 'not too desirable' prizes coming up next month (feat cards, event dials), and a friend and I decided for one week to play bad theme teams, and see how they do. My choice is Marauders. Not the worst, by far, but its one where I own all the pieces and used to enjoy them back in the day. Here's the build:
I wanted to work in armor piercing on Harpoon, or Nanobots on Mr. Sinister, but there just aren't enough points to go around.
Any thoughts on what you would do if you were trying to make this team competitive? I'm thinking that with the options for Sabretooth to flurry for 6 with perplexes, and Gambit to psi blast for 5 before then, it might just have a chance. I think my friend is playing Femizons, so I'm pretty confident against them, but I'd like to at least surprise one or two other players who show up with real teams ...
I've always opted for Fortitude on Mr. Sinister. It seems like an odd choice, but he needs his damage reducers intact. As long as his team has damage dealers, he isn't the first target...and while he is immune to Outwit, he isn't getting plinked by weenies.
In the modern game, many weenies are doing 3+ damage, so YMMV.
I don't think I've played Mr. Sinister since feats were invented, so I'm appreciative of the input! Thanks!
The easy fix for that would be to drop both auto regen's and add fortitude, which would put me at 490 points, and 50 in feats on the nose. That's 7 clicks of regen that average below a 13 DV I'd be giving up on having automatically, so if I get there, chances are that piece is dead if my opponent has one more action before I go. I'm not sure if the auto-regen is worth it more than a fortitude or not ...
