I was driving somewhere the other day and I was thinking... how much of a geek am I? What do I do that defines me as a geek? Is it the fact I read comic books in my 40's? have couple'a superhero t-shirts? Religiously watch superheros movies no matter how bad I heard they were? I admit it, I saw Swamp Thing 2...... still traumatized by it. Then I felt in my pocket and I realized I know what defines me as a geek: I have a plastic Green lantern ring I carry with me... just in case I'm needed.
What do you do that makes you a geek?

Yes, but you're a surrealist! I'm a normal guy!
Gil Zoo Crew or bust!
I have 10+ superhero T-Shirts that I wear as undershirts (especially with my 2 snap button shirts so I can just rip them open whenever), I have my heroclix and comics on display, and I carry a Homestarrunner key fob on my key chain. I think the coup de gras are my black plastic rimmed glasses, the staple to any geek wardrobe!
I don't know what the normal populace DOES consider borderline Geek......but I know I am a pretty big Geek/Nerd whatever.....(but I am also well rounded and social......oh and married with children ) My wife calls me a dork all the time probably because of all the Green Lantern statues and items I own....or maybe the original comic artwork....or the heroclix...who knows
I'm going to hit him really, really hard with a big green boxing glove............ I'm kidding. - Hal Jordan
I would guess that about 85% of my possessions are one of the following things: Comics, Card Games, Tabletop RPG books, Sci Fi and Fantasy books... Both Hardcover first editions, some signed, and stacks of classic paperbacks, Video games, Movies, and Computers.
the remaining possessions? Clothes & cooking supplies.
now think about what I said above: 85%.... now consider this: to move all my possessions in this last move I just made, it took a 16' Truck, and it was packed to the gills.
That's an exterior sign of my geekiness. But I think its more telling to observe behavior, and more importantly, Knowledge. Because what is a geek? Its someone who knows things. obscure frivolous things. I for example, can recite the history of the Marvel Universe with retcons in place pretty much perfectly. It would probably take about a year to get it all out, but sometimes I surprise myself with how long I can run at the mouth when someone asks me a comics question... because I'll start with the character's first appearance! I think I could do a one man show wherein I deliver every line from Star Wars: A New hope. Heck! I even know the ridiculous history of our favorite gaming company to a disturbing degree.
I think I do get down to a lot of geeky activities... but really... its about what you know~!!

I Know; Therefore I Geek.
Heroclix is a strategy game with comic book characters where you can shoot sheep guns and quip with Spider-man and Deadpool. It is played by some of the nicest, most giving people on the planet. That is why I play Heroclix.
Remember that show "Beauty and the Geek"? One guy on there had 25,000 comic books, and I thought to myself "That's all?"
I was tricked into geekdom by my parents. They got me comics to get me to read. But now my kids are showing signs. My teen age daughter reads comics weekly. My eight year old son loves the Brave and the Bold and Super Hero Squad cartoon and comics. Plus my six year old daughter keeps getting the Tiny Titans comic.
I collect and play with little plastic superheroes. I also own several comic books. Plus the role playing, you know. Comic book role playing. Which uses the plastic superheroes.

I have my Black Lantern Corps ring on at all times. It's good luck and has been since I've gotten it. Everyone looks at me weird when I say I want to eat their heart, maybe it's because I'm fat and they think I'd really do it.... ¬_¬
"This is THE WORLD! Not that you would be able to see it or even feel it, since time has stopped..." Need Batman-family clix
I'm a total geek, but not in the, "I can't get a girlfriend, I stalk girls, don't take showers, don't have a life, speak Klingonese, cos-play LARPing, still live in my mom's basement, poor sport loser" geek.
I'm a geek in the sense I'm in my mid-30's and I still buy comic book and video game toys. I own over 20 game consoles, and over 5,000 video games, my house is covered wall to wall with video game and fantasy posters, I still buy and read comic books and play video games geek. I also have an entire walk-in closet full of video game and comic book shirts. I'm a RPG player, board player, card game, and table top miniature player.
I even helped make a movie about dorks and geeks. Some of you may have heard of it: Gamers: Dorkness Rising. It's the sequel to The Gamers. It can be found in most comic, gaming, and hobby shops, including most malls around America.
What's there to say that no one else has touched on? I've been collecting comics since I was 7 years old. I used to read a ton of fantasy books, but now, it's all pretty much melded into comic books.
Oh, I'm a chemistry major in college, and now that I'm starting to get to do more things in my lab, I've found myself putting myself in just a tiny bit more danger of getting involved in a chemical spill. Why? I guess after reading so many comics and getting so many origin stories hammered into my brain, there's a tiny part of me that somehow believes I have a 1 in a billion shot in gaining superpowers.
I bought my daughter The Flash earings. And she likes them.
I helped her turn the inner rings from packing tape rolls into decopage wide bracelets with comics - AND - I made her use images from comic magazines because you DON'T mess with comics (sayeth the Preservation Librarian).
I own and wear a Spider-man Silk tie.
I catalogued my comic book collection as a kid. I used the backs of discarded catalog cards so they would be authentic.
I coach High School Tennis and when kids I know at the school see me they don't shake hands or fist bump with me, they pretend to spray webbing from their wrists at me.
I keep a pet, dead, golden cockroach because it came in a heroclix box.
That's about it.
