Long have I given modding and painting advice without showing my work. Today, I put my artwork where my mouth is. Here's a few things to keep in mind: these span my modding career, but are some of my favorite examples of my work. I have more, but I could sit here and take photos all day long and not capture them all. This is a start to show examples of my work. One day I hope to have a really excellent camera and lights to record my entire collection. My goal with my collection is to repaint every figure.
At some point I hope to show examples of my 3D terrain and Custom cards as well, but it'll have to be at a later date. I borrowed my Roommate's camera because it has a macro setting, but well, I'm no photographer, and even the best camera can't really capture how nice they look in hand, so cut me a little leeway on that. I like to use paints for effect, and unfortunately that is hard to show in pics. I often use opalescent additives, glow in the dark paints (the Guy Gardner construct glows like crazy) and gloss and matte combinations to create interesting effects. I enjoy mixing glow in the dark paint into my highlights to create an extra luminous highlight.
Some of these are examples of my Mod work. Others demonstrate my creative use of sculpts from other sources such as the lead Hellboy Miniatures I mounted, (and there are more Hellboy minis not shown here) and others are simply examples of my painting skills.
I spent enough time just getting this up, so there are no tags or labels. If you want to know something about a particular mod, ask and I'll spill the secrets. Enjoy~!
If you mail me a sentinel, and trade me for the work, I'll paint one just for you,
but no. That Cap Sentinel is one of my first mods, and a special favorite. I'm a huge New Mutants fan, and as you may know, that sentinel appeared in a single flashback panel of a classic New Mutants issue, in which its revealed that Sentinels that took out very difficult targets were marked by giving them custom paint jobs. A strange thing for AIs and robots to do, but still so very sweet.
When figures enter my permanent collection, they never leave. I keep all trading fodder separate from my personal collection, and make mods for my own enjoyment mostly. I am not opposed to commissioned work never intended for my personal collection however.

Spoken like a true Modder! Of course, now I need to finish my Headmen team and really start posting pictures (I keep saying that, but never do!).

well, the current Drax is actually the least powerful Drax, so a Rookie dial is approriate; bt to be honest, that was the dial I had on Hand, and I really wanted to make the Mod.
I'm extremely proud of the 'original' Drax. You can't really see it in the pics, but he is extremely detailed, and the paint job is among my best.
Some pics you'll likely see of my stuff in the future sometime will be examples of REV variants. This was always my strategy when REVs were the way of the world. I wanted each sculpt to be distinct. Some of my favorite characters have been tricked out with that theory, such as Dr Strange whom I have like 10 versions of LOL.
Every REV distinct, every unit personally painted, and every oddly sized unit in the game are the three big goals for my collection... my other ambitions lie in 3D terrain and house rules game design. One day I hope to achieve my own personal penultimate Heroclix collection.

Well he should be the least powerful, but hes been portrayed as the most powerful version of Drax as far as effectiveness is concerned.
He could barely hold his own with Thanos in his other incarnations, but his with his current abilities his ripped his heart out!
And the V was created to simulate hi, currently, but I do get what you're saying!

NICE!
I'd love to see em!
Do you have things like the original Strange without the orb of agamatto and that square pendant he used to wear, or the masked look for strange?
howsabout when Strange created avatars of himself Strange and (brain fart forgetting moment) the version that looked like the masked Dr. Strange?

VERY cool man.
BTW penultimate is one of the most widely misunderstood words I've ever heard or known.
Most people think (as did I for most of my 20's, and yes y 20's are long gone now) that it means great or near ultimate, but it actually means 2nd to last.
I'm guessing you didn't mean 2nd to last, but something akin to "great"?
Hopefully that didn't come off as too hoity toity?
It can mean "next to ultimate" in the same sense it means "next to last".
that's pretty much what I mean yeah, as I assume, I'll never really be done creating new mods even after the game is long canceled.
I have an original Doc Strange, and I have a "Wings of Needless Sorrow" Doc Strange, but I have not gotten around to a "Blue Mage" / "Strange" Doc Strange. I have a few extra sculpts sitting around for those purposes, but I tend to do the project that moves me in the moment, and I haven't be inspired to do those of late. Currently I'm working on a "Metropolis Kid" R Superboy. I pieced together the sculpt and will likely do the undercoat tonight.
did u print off dial tops usiung a template and glue them on? kinda look sthat way with that hawkeye (which is awsome btw) i made my own mods and want to print off custom dial tops
can u upload template? (if u did print off custom dialtops)
penultimate
1677, from earlier penultima (n.) "the next to the last syllable of a word or verse," from fem. of L. adj. penultimus "next-to-last," from pζne "almost" + ultimus "final."
Which is exactly how I meant it. "almost final"
To answer the last poster's question: I have a plan for dialtops, but I have never put it into action, since one of my rules is to use existing dials, and make any modifications to the character card based on that dial so that in tournament play, I just need to use the official card (or none at all if its a pre-carded fig) to make it tournament legal. My plan for dial tops is to use decal print sheets sold by a company called micromark to create high quality decals; prime the dialtops with flat black undercoat, and apply the decals followed by a top coat varnish. I will get to this eventually, as I have some dials I would like to custom make. But I have not yet acted on this plan. I have great confidence in Micromark's products however. I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Paper dialtops would just not be good enough for me.
I linked to some custom character cards in my OP and sig.
I was looking at the forum, and it looks like the rules have changed around here. I seem to remember there being a guideline for modders and commissioned trades. But now instead there's a stern warning. When did this happen?
