This post is to find out what figure has given you the most difficulty in securing. Now before you all start clamoring KC Supes etc what I am actually asking is this: What supposedly common (REV/CUR) figure is the one(s) that has given you a conniption in trying to get ahold of it. Now in order to help explain my point here I am going to elaborate on my more irritating figure acquisitions. Additionally I am speaking in terms of trading for rather then just hoping for pulls alone. As with previous posts I am going to keep this brief, as I am sure that there are enough of these to go on and on over, so two from each universe.
First we will start with Marvel:
I am sure this is an obvious one to most but Rookie HoT Captain America is giving me absolute grief trying to get right now. I have to be up front and say I have already had 2 of him, bought 2 bricks and got 2 of him - gave 1 to my brother - and thought that I should have no issue trading for him. Welllllll exccuuuuse me, he is like gold now and no one with one to trade will even consider my offers - it is becoming a real pain.
Another Marvel figure that has had me pulling my hair over is Experienced Universe Gambit. I am seeking him for a trade piece but it is like he has vanished from the face of clix-dom and no one has him for trade or sale.... weird.
Now for DC:
The first figure giving me the shakes over getting it is Legacy Vet Batman. I know he is the quintessential Batman figure, sans that lame costume, therefore great dial, great pose, etc - but for the love of heaven what is the deal with getting ahold of him? I have loads to trade but it just seems like pulling teeth to pry one from the hands of another clixer. Oh well.
My other DC headache is OMAC. Specifically the Experienced version but since he is supposed to be a generic I had wanted to get at least two of each. One alone of each has proven to be a real pain in the assimilator however. What can you do?
As I do not have any Indy figures to list in this venue I am going to add in a major runner up in the DC universe: Experienced Red Tornado. He was the most ridiculous chase after I had for quite a while. Took so long to get him I even speculated that he did not even exist at times, till someone kicked my butter one day with him. I finally had to pony up and just buy him off e-bay for a whopping $8 plus shipping. Gaaahhh!
So what figures have tweaked your cheeks and thumbed their noses at you in the attempt to secure them via trade?
HoT Cap for me, too. I had 4, sold away (cheap!) three of them, when I meant to keep 2. I'm not willing to spend $20 on a piece I will only use when the Cheese is called for.
HoT Cap is cheese now? Huh...I just thought he was anti-stealth with a bit of a glass jaw.
I haven't had much trouble getting CUR/REV figures. I do remember having a problem getting Vet Shazam from Origin, but then I pulled him in a WWLA Battle Royale.
The figures I'm currently having problems getting are the chase Sue and chase Thorbuster. I don't want to pay more than $40 for the first one and $50 for the second. I am still kicking myself for not paying close enough attention on a Thorbuster auction I was bidding on where he went for <$45 (over a month ago now I guess). Sure, I could just pay whatever and buy them, but I'm not willing to do that.
CarlosMucha: that is like be running in a Olimpic race competition just one step to get the gold and then a Giant children place a mirror in your side and you discover what you are really a hamster over a whell and the gold is just a slice of chess. Avatar Summoning: Original GotG, Melter, Whiplash
Vet Sinister Spider-Man. No one has him for trade, and the eBayers vainly list him at an inflated Buy It Now price despite the fact that no one's buying.
Book of Destiny feat. Yeah, it's the only good AA LE feat. Still shouldn't cost twice as much as the overpriced Spidey I just mentioned, especially in the P&P era of cards.
Alfred pog. Darn difficult to find. I never would've traded him had I not been such a noob when I did nearly 5 years ago.
God is smarter than we are....
Visit Heroclixin'! Or check out my trade thread. Molly Hayes' KO list: HoT Ultron, HoT Thor, SI Iron Man, AV Wonder Man, SI Sentry, LE Diana Prince, R IC Ultron, Pretty Boy, CW Kang, IIM Thunderball, TW Catwoman, OP Red Hulk.
I know he isn't good or expensive, but he has made it onto EVERY single list of figs I've made that I want to have, and many times been the last item on it. Either people want too much for him (honestly at this point I don't know that I'd spend much at all anyway) or they don't have him when I'm looking. Just a strange mix of circumstances. For a long time he was the only figure I needed from that set. Then I realized what a poor set it was and started trading stuff away...
I'm also having trouble keeping ahold of HoT Hand Ninjas. I had five at one time, traded two of them, one got chewed up by my dog, and I lost one. Now no one around here has any spares. Haven't really felt like checking online, they seem like something people would hoard.
Strange how there's always that one little fig that gives you problems...

Alfred POG, really? Geez, I must have had 6 of those over the years. Sold 4 off, kept 1 and gave the other to my buddy.
As for me, CUR or REV figures I've wanted to get, but have had a 'hard' time acquiring?
Marvel:
V Madrox. I've got 11 R Multiple Man, 5 E Multiple Man, and only 1 V Madrox. People treat him like he's made of solid gold.
DC:
OMAC. I've got 1 each of the REV and the LE. Try getting more, and it's crazy what people want for them.
Indy:
Nothing I've gotten all that I want of Indy, and any more that I want, are easy to acquire.
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........
Back when FF came out, R CJ Wonder Woman was the last figure I needed to complete my REVU DC sets. I was finally able to get one at the FF prerelease. It was a big moment when I finally got that last piece. Since then, it hasn't been too difficult to get what I wanted, largely through buying or trading online.
I also remember during Hypertime when I was just playing casually with my brother that I really wanted to get a Batman and Brianiac. I wanted to get at least one version of each sculpt (not including U's). Heroclix was my first experience with a collectible game and I didn't know anywhere that sold singles and didn't even know there were Heroclix tournaments, so I just bought blind boosters. I remember finally buying the REV Batman set on ebay for $12, which at the time seemed like a lot for a few small figures.
I think we can all agree that collectors online blow the prices on old-timey decent figs way out of proportion. Having to pay more than a few bucks for any non-LE figure from before Origins is just criminal. Hawkman from Origins is a good example. Red Tornado is another.
I'd like to get the SI F4 LEs but they are all selling for $20+ each, which is outrageous. Same goes for the new Lantern batteries. Pure criminal price-hiking on those things. No, I do not want to pay $40 a piece for them Mr. Ebay Seller. Honestly, I wouldn't pay $10 a piece for a little piece of plastic that I won't play every game.
Just don't get it really. These sellers online must really hope there is a sustained playing base out there for old-timey figures or their money goes down the drain. Because I know I'm not paying $10-$20 for an Atom puck.

But if people will pay it, how is it 'criminal price-hiking'?
