Marvel Comics Releases For The Week Of 05/16/2010 - 05/22/2010
And everyone thank Rogue for covering the DC side of things. Rep Rogue... if you dare.
:cross-eye
AGE OF HEROES #1 (OF 4) - Check in with Doctor Voodoo. See what J. Jonah thinks of the fall of Norman Oborn. Which member of Captain Britain's MI 13 plans to jump ship for the Avengers? Kurt Busiek pens one of these tales.
Amazing Spider-Man Presents - AMERICAN SON #1 (OF 4) - Norman Osborn is out, but what does that mean for his son Harry? The public is looking at him and someone is using the American Son armor. Some Menace, no doubt.
ATLAS #1 - Heroic Age - The missing piece of the puzzle from What If #9 is in play as the new 3-D Man, formerly Triathlon, has come to Jimmy Woo for help. Can Jeff Parker take one of the most disliked characters in the history of Avengers comics and make you like him?
AVENGERS #1 - Heroic Age - The Avengers are back. Thor, Steve Rogers, Iron Man, and more band back together to protect the Earth. Who is in, who is out, and which former Avenger wants the organization shut down for good? Probably Triathlon.
ENTER THE HEROIC AGE #1 - Heroic Age - Five all-new stories to kick off Hawkeye and Mockingbird, Thunderbolts, Atlas, Black Widow, and Avengers Academy.
GALACTA DAUGHTER OF GALACTUS #1 - Does anyone care?
INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #26 - What is Detroit Steel and how will it impact Tony Stark when he's still trying to figure out what kind of man he is?
ORIGINS OF MARVEL COMICS #1 - Short origin stories for your favorite Marvel characters. Now with retcons.
RESCUE #1 - Pepper Potts in the Rescue armor saved the life of Tony Stark numerous times as Norman Osborn turned their world upside-down. Now, she gets her own book.
Ultimate Comics - AVENGERS 2 #2 - Fury needs a Hulk on his new black ops team, but this never-before-seen Hulk isn't interested. Saying no to Nick Fury isn't a good idea.
X-FACTOR #205 - Bastion has entrusted Bolivar Trask with the job of eliminating the entire X-factor organization.
X-MEN - Pixie Strikes Back #4 (OF 4) - Not quite like how the empire struck back. Final issue... not that anyone has been reading it and offering reviews or anything of the sort.
Thinking the same thing myself. Everyone must be numb from Siege 4 and Galacta; WTF? That is about the most stupid thing I've heard in a long time. Did you make that up JTR?

I did not make that up. Here's how it's advertised:
GALACTA DAUGHTER OF GALACTUS#1 - Because YOU demanded it with your votes from the Assistant-sized Assistant Editor Spectacular. Reprinting the original story and three previously only available online.
I just wonder who the mother is.
I'm thinking Crystal of the Inhumans. She'd boink anyone. She's the female equivalent of Clint Barton.
I have to honestly say that so far, I've genuinely enjoyed reading The Heroic Age: The Avengers written by Bendis and drawn by JRJR. My only complaint so far is the whole bit with Wonder Man acting the way he did. I've watched Avengers Next and I loved Future Imperfect so it was nice to see those touches thrown in. I'm not saying that Bendis is a great writer or forgiven for his almost decade worth of travesties against the Marvel 616 but, this a was good starting issue.
And yes, Galacta is real. I don't think she's a part of the regular 616 MU but, I could be wrong.
Superman: "One of these days, Lois....POW!!! Right to the Marvel Universe!"
Galacta wasn't half bad, to be honest. Though it was weird and, when I had time to think about it, a little creepy too. I couldn't tell if it was genuinely part of 616 though - it mentioned stuff like Secret Invasion (she feeds on Skrull diseases that are making people sick), but at the same time, it may not matter since she seems to make it her mode of operation to be invisible any time she's donning her cosmic outfit.
It might not be a bad thing if not too many are reading it, though, since there's a moment in there I have a feeling would be pretty controversial if it was taken too seriously. The Ultimate Nullifier is mentioned (she wants to use it to cut out a cosmic tapeworm which later turns out to be a Galactus' future grandkid, which in turn is like what Galacta use to be in Galactus - meaning that Galactus is both her dad and her mom. Yeah...) and she comments about the time Mr. Fantastic used it to scare off Galactus, except she mentions it was sporting of dad not to tell Richards that the safety was still on.
That, the idea of Wolverine the Living Endless Buffet Planet, and using twitter posts to help drive the story forward make for a really strange comic.
Deadpool was better, however - he goes to Vegas to give a quick talking to a guy he sees on TV saying an offhand unpleasant comment about him (comparing him negatively to guys like Thor and Spider-Man in the new Heroic Age environment), then gets on the bad side of a Casino. Then he fights his old pal Weasel, who's currently operating as a Hero wearing a robot suit and calling himself "The House" (Because in Vegas, The House always wins). Basically, he's running a protective service sponsored by the Casinos. Deadpool offers him a deal to partner up with Weasel's extra suit and goes by the name of "Wildcard". Then Grizzly attacks a casino, Deadpool and Weasel respond, and while he's being bear hugged, Deadpool pulls him into the air to offer him a deal.
I can't imagine that deal being anything good in the long run.
Meh, that's alright, but I still want my insane, people-eating, Freddie Prinze Jr.-raping (yes, Mr_JTR, I know he didn't really ), 8-foot-tall monster Hulk back.
The "civilized" Ultimate Hulk who ripped Ultimate Wolvie in half would also be acceptable.
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?
It was a fun joke story intially but I think to continue is to milk it like Marvel Zombies 12

The Hulk who ripped Wolvie in half was ok, but it took too long between issues.
Also, someone re-colored that now famous image and used it on banners in my old town to promote a wrestling event. Kinda noticable that it was the same image. Whoever did the touch-ups could've at least done something about the mask other then trying to add flesh-tone to it. It was abnormal ears or something, plus, if I recall, the claws were still there.
Got Avengers #1 and Deadpool, both of which were very fun.
Really, can't say more than that. Though I'm worried that Secret Avengers with Nova is going to be an indication they are sidelining the cosmic DnA titles.
