This here is a finesse piece. I've played him once, and he was OK. With proper support, he could be amazing, but he's definitely not a point and click figure. Amazing sculpt.

Very costly but his powers can pull him through if you can bolster those meager stats. Find a suitable brick for his MM (sadly, outside of the starter) and he can do wonders.
I for one was one of the most people shocked at his dial. though it is relatively similar to the comic. I found his first click would be an activation piece. TK primary hitters or support pieces into place. then he gets better with the poison and outwit. you really need the orange lantern when playing him. two good pieces off the bat that comes to mind is inertia and Edward Nigma. Inertia for picking off leap climbing pouncers, Nigma for the token and enhancement. lex can shoot for 4 damage. for distraction you could use Elektra as a hey focus on me the crazy stealth pouncing queen of death.
so much work does have to be put into him. as he is the back up strategy to win. which is good, but lex has always been the brains behind everything, and maybe i was expecting more out of his power not to be restricted to adjacent characters. i mean limit the range to 6 and under and he will be very much worth his point value.
best strategy if you could get away with it. is have another TK on the team. preferably jean grey, and when the oppising character with lets say hypersonic is close enough. TK him to be adjacent, outwit the hypersonic, and use it against them.
I had soooo much fun with this guy. My opponnet (Who doesn't have the starter and was unaware of the dials) saw his naked movement and 16 defence on his first click and ignored him over other deputy lanterns. eventually got hit onto his impervious clicks and just poisoned the night away !! Opponent had a HUGE shield swarm team with low damage - I felt so sorry for him towards the end of the game I decided to take out my own Scarecrow for him (I want that yellow ring !!) he he
He's not the worst, but I was hoping for a bit more. Still, I bought the starter mostly to get him because I like the character. He's capable of some silly things, but also of being dead weight.

I think he should have an 8 range and at least one click of charge or running shot. I'm not a big fan of his low damage either. For having a duplicate of Larfleeze's ring and the battle suit I don't think he should drop to a 1 damage espically mid-dial or lose his 3 that quickly. That being said his first click can be brutal when using cheap blades/claws pieces as fodder. Just outwit a defense and TK said blades/claws piece up there to attack and keep another close to Lex as a bodyguard/damage sponge.
I strongly demand an errata for this dial. how is it that wonder woman gets more range than him. un fair. Ill allow Wizkids/neca a mulligan this time and it won't cost them the usual 1 stroke loss.
Lex Luthor will be a fun piece to play. Nice special ability, and he is the new leader in a LAMP team, love his second click!
Exactly what Happy said. put him on a LAMP team. his second click can be backed up by runaways like molly hays, and karolina dean. use karolina dean for the first fodder for 3-5 damage, that damage will put karolina on a power that gives all adjacent characters energy shield deflection. so if your already in hindering terrain molly hays has 22 defense , and lex has a deccent 18-19 defense which forces them to come closer to your Armor Piercing poison and orange lantern. force the range to base so its not bad. more points allow you to add more. this idea is mainly for a 300 point game.

What about using this BFC with him and a properly configured team?

Treat all non-blocking terrain as hindering terrain for line of fire purposes. Characters that have range values greater than 6 have range values of 6 instead, and range values can’t be modified to a value more than 6. Powers, abilities, and effects able to affect characters more than 6 squares away instead can only affect characters up to 6 squares away.
