So the new ATA need to have keywords to use them and to spend the point cost for each figure using it. I understand that part, but what gets me is ATA like the new fantastic force ATA which costs 5 per figure when I can pull out my old ATA card which has a 0 cost and does the exact same ability.
Did they change something that states that ATA now must include a point cost for each figure. If that is true, then what about the others with a 0 cost and now have a cost. I.E. Alpha Flight and The Society.
All old ATA's are now null and void. The new ones have completely replaced all the old ones. ATA cards with orange tops aren't turnament legal. You have to use the new black topped ones with the new costs and keyword rules.
I'm pretty sure the new ATA's don't cancel out original TA's. I think you now get the advantage of both TA's. Which is why the added cost is there. Phyla Vell benefited from this because she now keeps her Power Cosmic TA and uses the GotG ATA. Sorry if I'm wrong, ATA's and Feats don't get used much in my parts.
There are some of the new ATAs that do replace the original TA. Guardians of the Galaxy for example.
No, it does not.
New wording (in player's guide):
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
Keyword(s): Guardians of the Galaxy
Cost: 5
Powers possessed by characters using this team ability can’t be countered. This team ability can’t be used by wild cards.
Compare to the feat wording:
Prerequisites: Guardians of the Galaxy keyword
All characters on your force with the Guardians of the Galaxy keyword are assigned this feat and have the following team ability instead of any other team ability:
Powers possessed by character with this team ability can't be countered. This team ability can't be countered.
Cost: 4 points per character on your force with the Guardians of the Galaxy keyword.
Please notice the first line in the feat has been dropped from the ATA and the point cost is different.
Basically, the old ones are still cool because they REPLACE your previous team abillity. The new ones grant you that team abillity on top of the one you HAVE. Assuming I'm reading it right.

Wrong. The old versions are banned and can no longer be used.

Ouch. Then I have to say I'm a bit annoyed by this change. The IL abillity is TERRIBLE and the feat card using it as a prerequisit was the ONLY thing that made characters sporting it worth to play. On top of which, the new list for playable figures using that specific abillity is severely cut to a few Rogues, Despero (AA), and Psycho-Pirate. Bummer.
The new ATA are ok for play in Modern format? All of them?
Yes.
To answer upcoming questions...
- They are not feats and are therefore not subject to the 10% rule.
- They are not tied to a set, thus they will not count for any Floor format requirements.
- You may only have one ATA per force.
- You must assign it to and pay the points for all figures who qualify for it.
