WoSM brick figure: waste of plastic? or best fig ever?
I want to have an all out discussion between the people who are anticipating the new Brick fig, and those (including me) who think it is going to be a 6 clix of life, piece of garbage.
I think on a scale of 1-10 i would give the figure itself a 10. And it will be cool to have a transporter 4 square base spiderman. But for 6 clicks of life? I'd rather like to see like cosmic spidey or a powerful sider man as the brick fig. THOUGHTS?
I don't think anyone will argue with the fact that the sculpt is great. But to me, at only 6 clicks of life and such a huge base for 90pts, he's just going to be a big target. Maybe a few less buildings on the sculpt and put the figure on a duo base, he'd be a bit more better.
Meh. His sculpt is pretty cool, though I'm not as high on it as some people. His dial to me is boring, and as a 4x4 base he's going to get DESTROYED in games. I'd give him a 3/10.
I dig the sculpt and love the dial. I think it is great. The only drawback is the big 2x2 base. Minus the base and that fig is great! I actually can't wait to field him
No rest until the great works of Anthony Edward Stark are in clix forms
Soon...his works will be realized... in 2013 the Hall of Armor in clix!
I wish there was a normal sized version of it. I love it's special abilities, but it being 4x4 makes it a wider target, and harder to navigate around maps. Not to add, a pain to bring to the venue each week.
I don't want to call it a waste of plastic, as it's a nice looking display piece. But it's a waste of a 2x2 base - if a character is going to have a 2x2 base, make it worthwhile. Do something with the fact that it's a 2x2 base, whether it's giving it extra clicks of life (World's Finest, Thor's Chariot) or giving it a mechanic that takes advantage of the extra size (Clown Prince of Crime). Something, anything other than just acting as a display piece. The two aren't mutually exclusive, so actually do something that takes advantage of the extra size. Even if it's granting the figure Poison down the entire dial. That's something, at least.
I'm in Providence! I've been out of the hobby, but I'm looking for Saturday gaming. Send me a PM if you know the down-low!
I have a feeling he'll spend more time on my bookshelf or computer desk than on the battlefield. I like his dial, but there are other Spideys I'd rather use.
I think Worldbreaker is a pretty cool guy. He breaks worlds and doesn't afraid of anything.
Eh, as a brick fig it's mediocre. I won't agree that it's a waste of space either. Brick figs are supposed to be simple fun pieces you get to play on occasion anyway. I think the spidey fig accomplishes that nicely.
I really like the look of the figure. Really nicely done and captured the biggest moment of Spidey's career....his induction.
Now that is out of the way, I don't see myself ever using him. Mainly because the two figures that are in the set, are much more playable for the same amount, or less, of points. Sure the transporter attack is nice, and it would be fun to carry Mary Jane away from a battle, but that is about it. Like was said before, he is a very large target and could be an easy 90pts for your opponent if not used correctly.
Time will tell. But I just hope it doesn't end up like the Ragnarok Surtur where it is almost impossible to get rid of any extras.
Neither the greatest nor the worst. Generally speaking, I don't buy display pieces ... not in clix, not in action figures, not in dioramas... I just don't. This piece will see play from me if for no other reason than I am a die-hard Spidey fan. The fact that it has some cool play mechanics built in is just gravy.
However, if you go back and read the WK preview, the attempt here was to include the co-star found in almost every Spidey comic book out there: New York City. Sure, most of Marvel's characters are headquartered or based in NYC, but none of them are so completely tied to the city as Spidey. He swings through man-made canyons and perches atop mountains of steel. The city has defined and influenced his adventures from the very beginning. Try to imagine any of the three movies NOT filmed in NYC. And its a large part of what grounds Spider-man to reality: he doesn't live in fictional places like Gotham City or Metropolis - he's a New Yorker - a common man; one of us. A couple of years ago I went to NYC on business and, looking out on the city from 30 floors up, it was very easy to believe that a man could swing from one side of the city to the other without ever touching ground. I kept expecting that, at any minute, I would see him swinging around one corner headed off to save the city....or stop a purse snatcher.
Think of the WoSM brick fig as a duo fig - Spider-man and NYC. Of course, cities are a little bigger than your average Marvel Team-Up ally, so something a litte grander is called for.
I like it.
May all your hits be crits!
