...I couldn't find the answer in that other thread about the book.
It's set in the Bay Area, so that part seems like everything's normal, but on the other hand (I've only read issue#1) that there's no way they'll be able to turn any/all of the x-men into vampires
Sorry if this is common knowledge or was answered, I didn't see it.
...on a separate note, I only read the 1st issue, but I'm so not into pop-culture's recent vampire love-fest, so I really hope this book's not in continuity b/c I am a huge x-fanboy and would hate to drop an additional $4 every month (lol) on them cashing in on the vampire popularity resurgence
It certainly is.
The series technically starts with the "death of Dracula" one shot, which was pretty good.
I preferred the 1st ish to the 2nd ish of X-Men, but I am finding the vampire arc interesting so far as its utilizing the marvel Vampire history quite well IMO.
Its actually really good so far, just read #2 myself. You absolutely have to read the death of Dracula 1shot before this though, It is the start of it all and is technically like issue #0. To awnser your question I do believe that it is in continuity. It also makes since, dracula has been a menace to the x-men before. This is just the return of an old but rarely used threat in marvel, except in blade. All in all I strongly suggest ppl check this out. Not the quality of some of the major recent archs like the messiah stuff or others but I am loving it.
It is. It seems better written than some stuff lately. I've had a migraine for nearly two months and am nearly a drooling idiot as the pain is unbearable, so my opinion is not very good. I mean, I thought Norman Osborn and the Hammer was the some of the best stuff marvel had done none cosmic related in since the infinity gauntlet crossover (I don't consider it cosmic related) and it was just a shame all the garbage that led up to it and the whole asgard thing that ended it and magically making the goblin making appear on Norman's face plus the sentry bit was massive bowel explodingly delightful end to that bountiful buffet buttfart of wedontknowhowtoendthisandthisguywantstochangedirectionso. It's really a shame they couldn't just find the guy who thought up the whole asgard bs and stuff his rectum full of small angry robot adorable hamster clones of me in little space suits with lasers and manys sharp, pointed, painful and exlodingedly things.
But yes, this is in continuity. There was a Death of Dracula or something or other it was called that was very what-the?!ish that actually led up to this. I honestly have no idea where any of the stuff in there came from, but did they retcon it to Normie knocking booties with an underage Gwen Stacy and her somehow having kids? I don't know. It hurts really badly.

Don't blame wedontknowhowtoendthisandthisguywantstochangedirectionso. It's not his fault that some executive said "Wrap up your cool story line within a month so that we can start a boring Heroic Age filled with the same old stuff we've had for decades."
I might give Dracula a shot though, even though I've been pretty out of X-men for a while. It seems like something solid I can hold onto that won't get too complex (I hope so anyway). I couldn't get into that whole Hope storyline though. Everyone says it was good, but there was just too much going on and too many characters involved for my tastes.
The Curse of the Mutants is in continuity. It is taking place across the brand new X-Men on-going, and a few one-shots and mini series. The Death of Dracula one-shot is a precursor.
Ew. Vampires are so overplayed lately.
./sigh
Thank you all for answering this, I guess I *won't* be saving the $4 /mo :P
..and not I have to buy a Death of Drac? ugh.
Thx!
Lol, apart from being hopelessly addicted to all things X and Deadpool (which I'm regretting more and more each month), I'm really concerned that vampire Emma or Jubes is going to show up in Uncanny or Legacy and I won't know what the $%&* is going on :S
It's maddening that I can't help myself... but that's how they make their money, so I guess : /
Eh. I'm glad that Second Coming is over so I can go back to being picky about my X-Books. I never was a fan of those events that span across every book, forcing you to buy more than what you normally would to get the story.
I'm pretty sure the titles are going back to being self-sufficient, so I wouldn't worry about vampires crossing into other books.
ASK ME ONCE I’LL ANSWER TWICE JUST WHAT I KNOW I’LL TELL BECAUSE I WANNA!
SOUND DEVICE AND LOTS OF ICE I'LL SPELL MY NAME OUT LOUD BECAUSE I WANNA!

This is correct. The Vampire stuff is confined to X-Men and the specifically labeled minis.
Uncanny will be dealing with The Five Lights, New Mutants will be dealing with Darkchylde stuff and X-Force hasn't started back up... Don't read X-Factor and can't think of any more X-books.
Don't let the sparkly vampire fad put you off this book. To me, I think the writer of this story was tired of prissy vampires and decided to write a good vampire story instead.
And I hear the vampire story is going to spread into different areas of the MU. Is that true?
Based on the map they showed in X-Men #2, I'd say the X-Men can't handle it themselves. I'm actually liking the story despite my initial disgust. Are they taking advantage of the current vampire mania? Yes. Does that mean that the story is insipid and sparkly-vamp laden? No. All of the Vamp Clans uniting, inventing daywalking tech, and attempting to use a virus to make more vamps = real big badassed problem. The X-Men have history with vampires and Dracula. Blade is friggin awesome.
I'm also not worried about the whole Mutants becoming vampires thing for a couple of reasons. #1, the vamps are turning people via virus which makes it really easy for the x-club to come up with a cure. #2, characters likely to become infected will likely follow the trend of re-powering depowered mutants - they've already started this. How cool would it be for Dani to go from mutant to valkyrie to mutant to depowered to super valkyrie(to take down ares) to depowered to Awesome Vampire Lady? And #3, ELIXIR. He changed Wolfsbanes biology to match that of an Asgardian, it seems logical that he could revert vamps back to purely human biology.
