Gearing up to battle colossal Dr. Manhattan with some friends tonight....
We've been coming up with strategies to take him down, and one proposition is to have starter Invisible Woman remain 7 or more squares away from him (activating her SP), and then perplex her range whenever she wants to land some RCE.
I just wanted to double check on here to see if this is possible....
Dr. Manhattan's rules state:
"Ignores........ Stealth powers, as well as game effects that duplicate the effect"
Invisible Woman's SP:
INVISIBLE: Any character that is 7 or more squares from the Invisible Woman can't draw a line of fire to her.
I think that her Invisible power WOULD work against Dr. M, because it in no way mentions "Stealth", but I wanted to make sure on here first before an inevitable minor argument errupts during the game. Thanks in advance!
As far as I know, there is a difference between saying "line of fire is blocked" and "line of fire can't be drawn."
IW's power states "line of fire can't be drawn," not "is blocked" so all those characters (Zenhatten, Cosmic Spidey, Cap, etc) are out of luck when they are 7 or more squares away from her.
Stealth blocks Line of Fire. Invisible prevents Line of Fire being drawn in the first place. Manhattan can't see Invisible Woman.
Neither can HoT Captain America, btw.
Thanks, this is exactly what was thinking. Hopefully others chime in if its incorrect, but... yea. I just really want to double check because I know if Invisible Woman lands a hit on Dr. M (playing scenario), he's going to try to argue otherwise when he can't retaliate against her....
I have to disagree with you ChiRocker and have to documentation to prove it. While it's not moving in the classical sense, Dr. Manhattan does go from one location to another in scenario play unlike all the others.
ASPECT DIAL:
LEAVE ME ALONE!: If the "Symbol" is on Dr. Manhattan's Aspect Dial after it has been turned, immediately resolve his "Leave me Alone!" Special Power, as explained on his Character Card.
Character Card:
Leave Me Alone!: When the Aspect Dial is turned to reveal this symbol, immediately place Dr. Manhattan in the starting area of the active player's choosing. If any opposing characters occupy that starting area, place them in the starting area furthest from Dr. Manhattan's new position.

Placing is not the same as moving, for one.
You don't get to really choose where you're placing Dr. Manhattan, for two. You can pick a starting area, but that's as far as it goes.
So ChiRocker's point about not being able to move Dr. Manhattan next to Invisible Woman stands; if he were to wind up being placed adjacent to her, that would be purely coincidence.
If I understand the scenario rules correctly, colossal Dr. Manhattan should never win if the opposing team has anyone with support on the team. Dr. Manhattan literally can do nothing until he's damaged, so any time a character is injured, they can sit around and use support until the team opposing Manhattan is back to full strength and then attack again.
We tried the scenario and couldn't figure a way for Dr. Manhattan to win and we were just using the Blackest Night starter figures (which of course included The Atom) plus a Black Adam/Shazam and a Batman Alpha Talia to come up with 1200 points.
OTOH, we played Manhattan vs. CoG Galactus at 1800 points (using the part of a force rules) and Dr. Manhattan totally owned the Big G even though Galactus got in the first hit.
