In December, following the end of Shadowland, Daredevil will be going on hiatus from his own comic. The numbering will continue but the title will be changing to Black Panther: Man Without Fear. While his sister, Shuri, continues to rule over the post-Doomwar Wakanda, T'challa will be moving to New York, Hell's Kitchen, to become its protector in the absence of Daredevil.
I imagine this will be a longer, but still temporary change in the same way that the Incredible Hulk became the Incredible Hercules. We all knew the original lead would eventually come back to reclaim his title, but in the meantime we were treated to some very cool stories.
As a Black Panther fan, I am very excited about this. I've also enjoyed the Zorro title from Dynamite, which featured the same artist, Franco Francavilla.
I have huge reservations. It feels like "Let's take everything interesting and unique about T'Challa, strip it away, and force him into the New York Hero mold of so many other Marvel characters." I may be wrong.

This exactly.
I hope the surviving cast members White Tiger/Black Tarantula/Dakota play a part in the 'meantime' series.
It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?

I don't think it's without precedent for the Panther, though. I'm pretty sure he had a less-than-royal profile when he was in New York during his first stint with the Avengers. And, if you accept the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, vol. II mini as continuity, T'Challa was even a New York public schoolteacher for awhile during that time.
Well, I am curious about how they'll work this out. I've always loved Black Panther, and a lot of his stuff in the past has been very good, even if it seemed like a longshot in the past.
On the other hand, after Iron Fist played Daredevil for a while, and now Panther is taking over his title, what does this say about Daredevil's status in Marvel books?
I am excited because this is the first non-Hudlin T'challa as BP in years (besides the Jason Aaron Secret Invasion story, which made the best out of a crummy event crossover). Forced or not, I am willing to give this a chance just for that reason.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
This could be good, but Panther's not really my favorite character, so I'll probably pass. Then again, I said that about Hercules, and now he's one of my favorite characters, so I guess I'm easily swayed.

I would have preferred one of them to be the fill-in, rather than Black Panther, who has nothing to with the current storylines. Or Danny Rand again. He doesn't have a book of his own anymore. (although I can't fathom why)
