So - lately I have been trying to pick up a few mods here and there on Ebay - trying to sell some too - but the reason I am doing it is simply because I want an in hand comparison.
Makes sense, right?
So I saw that an opportunity to get ahold of one of Jovert's mods to compare mine to, I saw a Blackbolt he did was up for auction. However, the seller had the shipping price of 7 dollars attached to the auction.
I inquired as to why so much - this was the email I got back:
My shipping is what it is because I spent 89.00 on this figure when I
bought it. And I am not selling this to lose money. If you bought a car
for 200 would you sell it for 20.00? I don't think so. I'm not trying
to be mean but if you don't like the shipping price don't bid on it. It's
that simple.
I am not even going to begin to destroy your rational, or your logic. You're right - I didn't like the shipping price, so I didn't bid.
& Then
It sold for 26 dollars and that seven dollars shipping. You didn't make your money back, and Yes - I have sold cars for less than what I paid for them.
If you read this - I am not calling you out on your crap, nor am I trying to be mean - but you would have gotten my bid of 65 dollars if your shipping was correct and you weren't a jerk or tried to be a smart ###. You could have only lost a small amount of money for a piece of plastic; or you could have made off like a bandit.
To me - my bid of 65 dollars was worth the investment to see what a Jovert looked like in hand - anything to compare quality amongst us customizers would help me in demonstrating quality to potential commissions.
To the realmser who got Blackbolt - Kudos! To this guy - shipping for a single clix is about 3 dollars from US state to US state, USPS mail. Remember that next time.

if it was An ebay power seller I would understand there are quite a few out there that sell collectable cards for 50 cents but charge 4 to 5 dollars shipping so that they make money on the card. This is an incredibly common practice among power sellers. But I agree he is a tool
quit calling web tokens objects dammit, they cannot be carried and have no "unique game effect" they are nothing more then sculpted "Special" cardboard squares
So what you're saying is that you're not smart enough to treat the price your willing to bid (or hitting BIN) + the shipping free as one one lump sum when considering ordering something.....
You were perfectly willing to bid $65. But let $7 for shipping deter you.
Me? I'd have bid $58. Add $7 for shipping & oh, look, it ends up costing $65! Must be magic.
And then you come to the Realms to publicly ##### about an EBay shipping cost issue.

He was a jerk first - Rhino is on Hercules Dial - and seemed like a jerk to me too - hence the jerktacular post - I can do math, but I wasn't paying 7 dollars for shipping when it is 3 bucks - he wasnt doing anything cool with the shipping, like putting it in a bullet proof container - he was simply being a "I over paid for this piece of plastic, it's a recession, and I think I should get every dime out of it I paid for" kind of person. Why must I pay for his financial instability, and less than stellar approach to the pragmatic nature of a buyers remorse? Sure - maybe if it was something awesome! - but not when you tell me why your shipping is so high.
Not me & never with shipping. Just my stance. You don't like it, then wonderful
I buy from ebay a lot and I don't care what the item I'm paying for or bidding on cost because that's the price I'm willing to pay for that item...but I agree $7.00 is a joke and disrespectful to the buyer....$5.00 at most because the seller has to pay for the stuff to ship the item(s) in....but $7.00 for a single clix? that's like buying a concert ticket at scalping price....just because someone can do something doesn't mean they should....
While I see you point, and agree with what you are saying, still there is:

I cut out the offense stuff, and this is the other point I see. Sixy five dollars is a lot of money, and if you did bid the $58 and won, it would cost with shipping $65 dollars. But if the winning bid was $28, and if you were to put in your bid it may cost less then that, it could have been the winning bid of $33 (though you would go up to $58) plus shipping would be $40; and there is $25 left over. Just making the point, sometimes you got to look at both sides.
Salu Digby as LeVIathan in clix!
“I used to be a heroclix player like you, then I took an arrow in the knee.”
The bid was not placed because the seller was tool. I actually agree with that. If I have a bad experiance with a low cost seller, I will spend the extra money for better customer service.
As a P-T seller, I know (but do not practice) the stategy of putting a very low starting price and upping the Shipping Costs. What this does is: lowers the initial listing fee, and lowers, somewhat, the final sale price. The shipping is not included in the final sale. Although $3 is not much money saved...
On the flip side, I typically add the cost of the piece and shipping cost together when I put bids in myself, and is always a good move.

I guess that depends. No one ever takes into account things like supplies or the actual act of going to the post office, etc. Hence the word "handling".
$7.00 may seem to be much, but if he was shipping it Priority Mail and had to buy a box to send it in, then that would pretty much cover the $7.00.
Of course, if he didn'y send it Priority Mail then he was overcharging.
I always estimate shipping costs and refund anything in excess od $1.00.

I never bid on heroclix on ebay unless the shipping is less than $4. I charge $3 for shipping and offer combined shipping. That is reasonable. $7 shipping is unreasonable for a single heroclix.
If I make you a trade offer, even if you think it's ridiculous, please at least respond with a kind and simple "Thanks but no thanks."
