Canada Post services and maximum dimensions and weight ***
01 October, 2010 | 11:22
To all eBay sellers,
When using eBay/PayPal’s online shipping tool to print your Canada Post shipping labels, it is important to ensure all items shipped do not exceed the maximum dimensions or weight for the selected service.
Canada Post has been receiving many shipments created on the eBay/PayPal shipping platform that are being under-declared in terms of dimensions and/or weight. For example, Canada Post has received Light Packet™ items that are greater than 20 mm in maximum thickness and / or Small Packet™ items (destined for the USA) that are greater than 1kg.
Some sellers are entering the dimensions and/or weight required to meet the minimum and maximum measurements for the selected service. However, they are actually shipping items that are larger or heavier than the dimensions declared. It is important to ship items that fit within the dimensions and / or the weight of the services selected.
Please be reminded that Canada Post does have the right to return or refuse shipments that are considered to be short paid i.e. items shipped that exceed the dimensions and/ or weight of the service selected and have incorrect rates.
To verify the maximum weight and/or dimensions of Canada Post’s Light Packet™ service or Small Packet™ Service, please visit:

You just have to know if Ebay is posting this information, then Ebay has been warned/told by Canadapost that there is a little bit of "fudging" going on.
Now as to who is getting burnt ?
- obviously the seller when/if package is returned -
- however for the many that "slide" through, then it is Canadapost
Leading to 2 questions:
1) Are these few sellers "fudging" postage because they are incompetitant ? or to create larger profit for themselves?
2) Has Canadapost noticed this trend because a) Canadapost wants a better bargaining position with ebay? and therefore Ebay is concerned or or b) Canadapost is concerned about the lost revenue (that ebay still profits by) , and are considering cancelling this partnership/experiment.
Certainly if I was Ebay, and not content with just: Listing Fees, Final Value Fees, Store Maintenance Fees, Paypal Fees and Paypal Currency Exchange Fees, I certianly wouldn't want to lose out on Postal fees too!
I wonder if other Postal Service partnership are in jeopardy?
Don't think I will lose sleep over this one
What would our itrader score be if sellers posted feedback, before waiting for us? . We are Canadian and as such we deal International.
