I'm not sure if this has been answered or not, but if Doom uses his special outwit power, POWERLESS: Doom can use Outwit. When Doom uses Outwit, he can use it normally, or choose to counter all powers or all abilities of a target character 6 or fewer squares away, does that also take out traits too?
I read the linked thread, and maybe I'm just tired, but it seems like it's only due to Doom's ability that the power from a Trait can be countered.
Currently, no Trait can be countered, as:
TRAIT ABILITIES
Traits are abilities, powers, effects, or other aspects of a character that it possesses at all times, regardless of how its combat dial is turned during a game. Trait abilities are indicated by a star symbol on a character’s base. Traits are defined on a character card next to the {Star} symbol in the white circle at the beginning of a character card. All traits are non-optional and can’t be countered.
There are some Traits that grant the use of Standard Powers. Like this:
INVULNERABILITY: Thor and Loki can use Invulnerability.
So through their Trait, they can use Invulnerability, but they don't actually possess Invulnerability. Since they don't possess it, there is nothing for a power like Outwit to counter.
However, in the future, if a Trait were to say that the character possesses a power (as with Invulnerability above), even though the Trait itself cannot be countered, the power could be.
It's the same reason why characters like Nightcrawler and Ms. Skrullville, can use the 'Ambush' feat, and their 'Stealth' isn't countered for using the card. They can only use 'Stealth', and they don't actually possess it.
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........
Thank you WIT, that was very clear to a tired mind!

I should have been a bit more specific. I'm trying to spitball a few ideas to take down Bombastic Bagman.
Bombastic Bagman Trait deals penetrating damage, so hiting him hard with a character which can use Mastermind will work just fine too : you will be able to redirect the "Bombastic feedback" damage to someone else (like a bystander token for example).
