DVD Marathon: Super Friends (Drinking Game Edition)
Welcome to the second game in (what I hope to be) my on going DVD Marathon series: Super Friends (Drinking Game Edition). First the rules of the mafia game:
1) All the standard disclaimers apply (no contacting each other outside the game unless specifically told you can do so, no quoting PMs I send you, no talking once you are removed from the game, etc)
2) If you have not been told you have a specific alignment in your role PM, then you are TOWN (just in case I forgot to tell anyone).
3) When determining the order of night actions, if two actions would conflict, I will go with the action that was submitted first. Hopefully this will encourage you to submit actions on time
4) If you fail to send in night actions three nights in a row, I will either replace or mod-kill you, depending on what is best for the game.
5) In the spirit (get it? “spirit” HA!) of the drinking game this is based on, at the end of each day phase I will post a link and/or embedded a clip of a short scene from the Super Friends and I will tell you what the current drinking rules are. Watch the clip and then, as you submit your night actions, you need to tell me how many “drinks” the clip would cause. If you guess correctly, you’ll get a nice bonus to your night action. If you guess too few, you might have something bad happen to you during the night (chance varies depending on how much you missed the correct answer); if you guess too many, your night action has a chance to fail out right (chance also varies depending on how much you missed the correct answer). YOU DO NOT NEED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PART OF THE GAME IF YOU DON’T WANT TO DO SO; just tell me in your night PM that you are not playing the drinking game tonight and your action will be performed normally (no bonus, but no chance of negative effects or extra failure either).
6) Finally, I will refer to a night kill or a lynch as a "Capture". Hey, this is Super Friends... people aren't killed, they're caught, lectured by Superman or Batman, and then arrested (or escape) If you want to make the mod smile, I recommend voting by posting Capture [player name]. I'll still take the standard Lynch or Vote votes, but I do appreciate any and all attempts to stay in character.
DRINK GAME RULES
These are rules created by Sean “Seanbaby” Riley and can be found in their original form at http://www.seanbaby.com/superfriends/drink.htm . I have modified them a bit to stream line the game:
1) Drink every time you hear the word "space" or "super". So if the episode features Superman fighting space aliens, this will add up fast.
2) Drink every time you hear a hero-specific adjective in front of some device or gadget. For example, Bat-Rope (Batman), Magic Lasso (Wonder Woman), Aquatic Telepathy (Aquaman), X-Ray Vision (Superman) would all require a drink.
3) Drink every time a character says something in a different language. God help your liver if El Dorado and Samurai are both in the episode.
4) Drink every time someone uses an exclamation catch-phrase. "Great Krypton!", "Great Hera", "Jupiters", etc are all examples.
5) Drink whenever someone has "GOT TO [do something]!" And if they've "GOT TO [do something]! AND FAST!", chug.
6) Drink whenever someone has either "ONLY ONE CHANCE" to do something or has to do something "JUST RIGHT".
7) Drink whenever there is a shooting star transition or the Wonder Twins use their power.
Each night, I will post a short clip and a couple of these rules; you can watch that clip and, using the rules I provided for that night, count the number of “drinks” your character would take. Then PM me that number with your night action and see what happens! Again, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PART OF THE GAME IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO DO SO.

The party was getting pretty boring. Jeff had invited some friends over for a night of fun and hilarity, since the wife and kids were off visiting her parents, but this was just dull, dull, dull. I guess there are only so many games of Mario Kart you can play before you all keep getting mad at that one guy who always seems to get the blue turtle shell… Jeff needed to think of something, and fast, to save his party.
Wait… “and fast”? AND FAST! That’s it!
“Hey guys, I’ve got an idea! You all remember the Super Friends, right? Well, back in college I used to play this awesome drinking game while watching reruns on Cartoon Network. I’ve got some on DVD now, so do you want to give it a try?”
“I don’t know, Jeff,” said one of his friends, “We’re not college kids anymore… I don’t know if I can handle a drinking game.”
“Oh, come on! I used to do this all day when they’d have a marathon on TV. A couple episodes can’t hurt.”
After some shrugs and “What else is there to do” mutterings, everyone agreed. Beverages of choice were acquired, rules were explained, and the first DVD was placed in the player…
After the first, they were all just drunk enough that this suddenly seemed like a REALLY good idea, so they plowed a head and, uh, continued to get plowed.
By the end of the second episode, it became pretty apparent that they were indeed no longer in college and that these drinking game rules were NOT messing around.
One man was shrieking “I am Batman” with a towel wrapped around his head (I guess it was supposed to be a cowl) and tried to leap over the couch, failing spectacularly.
Another was trying to keep a third from stealing his pants, both giggling like school girls, and alternately shouting “Grundy wants pants, too!”
A fourth was just passed out.
Jeff meanwhile, possibly still suffering some residual damage from his Scooby-Doo experience, just continued to stare at the television screen. Suddenly, it all seemed so… so… REAL. Jeff could understand not just that Luthor wanted to rule the universe, but he could actually see how he could do just that. Batman’s use of the Bat-Computer no longer seemed to be just a random mashing of buttons and flashing lights; Jeff knew, in his heart, that he could work the Bat-Computer. And the way characters would spontaneously change colors and suddenly not have sleeves/pants/capes and then back again between scenes? Jeff totally understands the purpose behind that.
As more episodes played across the screen, and more bottles piled up on the table, Jeff descended further and further into the madness that had gripped him once before, unable to separate booze-soaked reality from animated imagination.
Jeff (normalview) is comatose once again and removed from the game! Day 1 begins now and night 1 will begin in 24 hours. With 18 players, 10 is needed for majority
