The CTA version seemed a little busy for me, the extra stuff detracted from the raw song.

I agree with AlienFlanders (in particular, the drum solo in the middle of the song kinda ruined CTA's version for me).

Well I'll agree that the Stevie Winwood original is best but I really like the Chicago version and thought I'd make people aware of it. Best part about it? No Peter Cetera.

I have an Originals vs Covers lined up soon that will either have you laughing or you'll wanna lynch me.

There is very little from the time period that is better than pre-Cetera Chicago, but I gotta go with the original, too.

I liked what Chicago did with the song in general, but that long break in the middle just took it out of the competition.

Spencer Davis Group.

And I liked plenty of the Peter Cetera stuff, too.

Still waiting for Gaard and Arion.

I like both of these, and like them both a lot. One of my all-time favorite songs, by either group. Its one of the reasons for waiting an entire day to post.

I got to go to several concerts when I was very young, and saw Chicago in Greensboro, NC long ago. I think they were the loudest band I had ever heard at that time, bar none, but what an experiance in person. When I first saw the choices here, I leaned towards Chicago. But after listening to both (repeatedly), I think I do like The Spencer Davis Group a bit more.
