Rings should all be yellow, and he should be at least a little larger, fig wise. The top half of his dial is pretty lethal, just run some interference and he can be pretty intimidating. Crumbles in the back half.
Psychic Blast with big values makes him a huge threat against opposing bricks, and Telekinesis gives him a lot of utility, but his late dial is soft and unless he's on a Sinestro Corps team his trait may slowly eat away at his dial if you roll badly. He's easily cheap enough to be an interesting tentpole in a 300 point game, or a really beefy secondary attacker. Buyer beware, since one good whack or some early game misfortune will make him a total waste, but I wouldn't want to see him across the board if I was using Ares or Ganthet or something.

The lack of Super Strength suprised me, I mean this is Mongul. Over all not bad though, I won't ever field him simply because I'm a Sinestro loyalist. I do hope we get some fresh blood for the corps in the next set a buddy and me wanna have a civil war match; him with Mongul and me with Sinestro.

I'd be happy to see some more Sinestro members, but the other corps need more love.
Play this fig like you would read about him in the comics. Do not push too much or too often or he will become difficult to use. His phasing keeps other lanterns from this set from having too much mobility and can even keep nightcrawler at bay. Now as far as wanting to see more sinestro corps members I'm looking forward to a Cyborg Superman that's actually affordable to run with manhunters and the rest of the corps! That abomination from origins makes my teeth hurt every time I see it.
Always try to leave an internet argument at lvl 1!

Nightcrawler does not use phasing! he just ignores terrain and characters, which is the equivlent, but means he is not effected by the anti-phazing power.

Sorry I guess my brain was stuck in old school play for a bit.

Almost total 5's! My favorite surprise piece from this set. Drak, Manhunter, BN Scarecrow, and Mongul made a tour-de-force 400 point team for me! I was so pleased with how he played with others.

I'm pretty suprised he's not indomitable. For me personally, I don't think he's worth the points without either an up top move and attack or indomitable. I do realize he'll be TK'ed out to try and obliterate someone. I suppose I'll have to try him out for myself one day, but I haven't been impressed with him the many time's I've faced him from across the table.

With the updates to Telekinesis, Mongul went from "great for the points" to "Holy crap! He's a better leader than Sinestro!" Only his lack of an opening Move and Attack hampers him (that's what you have Lyssa for), but with numbers, powers, and beefy dial worthy of a 200+point character, and the ability to remove two tokens from underlings with a good Leadership roll, Mongul is simply a must on Sinestro Corps themes.
I love the sculpt, I think the multi color rings are awesome, but it would have been nice to see battle furry, to represent the red ring.
take note, when the new rules come in Phasing wont be optional (as far as I've heard). His trait will finally be worth something, and now leader ship is a little better if still lopsided at either end. I'm going to build a team just for the new rules though.

Not exactly. While there is no longer a concept of canceling a power, those that require an action of some sort are still only being used after that action has been given to the character. For powers like Stealth and Energy Shield/Deflection, you can't choose to 'cancel' the power, as canceling no longer exists. However, I'd say the trait is still useful, especially if you get map choice and pick a map with a lot of blocking terrain. If they have to make a choice between taking a damage, and wasting movement to go around something, that's a good thing.
