Grodd is one of my favorite villians, It pains me that they did him Instead of a Gorilla beast boy, the AA versions were fine, and this one is strictly worse is pretty much every way. That top click especially bad 116 points for Leap/Climb and TK? Eh...
i totaly agree, the 2 grodds from AA were way better, and a gorilla BB would have been awesome, i hope we get a flying and aquatic BB in the next set of DC
There are a lot of reasons to play this one over the AA one! Telekinesis makes Legion of Doom teams quite a bit more threatening, he's substantially cheaper, he actually has range, and he has a very long dial for the points. I like him a lot.

This Grodd really feels like a supplamental REV version to the AA. Sure, he is cheaper, and has some front-loaded telekenisis, but he lacks the dial length, attack and defense values, and indomidable of the AA one. If you *need* a cheap Grodd or a keyword player with front-loaded tk, this is the ape. The powers are generally good, but the values drop too quickly for my tastes (except that one click of 11 in the middle of the dial, but with a 16 defense without reducers, it won't last long).
I know that I'm in the tiny minority here, but this is by far my favorite of the Modern Age Gorilla Grodds available, and I consider myself lucky to have managed to trade for one. The powers and numbers seem like an almost-perfect representation of the character -I'm not quite sure about the TK, I'm pretty sure it's among the various mental powers that the ruling caste of Gorilla City possess, but can't recall him using recently if ever. And I also wish that he had the Injustice League TA.
I like his dial, sculpt, and the fact that he ignores Psy. Blast. True, The other Grodd from AA has Indomitable, and an 18 Def. middial, but without damage reducers, he can go down fairly quick. Plus, this Grodd's cheaper, and he really feels like Gorilla Grodd to me. 'Nuff said. :a-sharpshooter:
"Our mother has been absent ever since we founded Rome; but there's gonna be a party when the wolf comes home."
It concerns me that so many people think that this is a terrible piece. He's 8 clix deep, and is useful on every one of them. With his assortment of TK, Outwit, and Psychic Blast, he can serve as either a support piece or a secondary attacker. On Animal theme teams, he is especially effective, particularly if you run a Gorilla City Warrior or two. And he's cheaper than either of the AA versions by more than 40 points. After I get another AA common Grodd and swap the sculpts, this is going to be my go-to Grodd(unless I'm playing Sinestro Corps in which case, it's the LE all the way, buhderp).

Ummm...are there THAT many people who need to get their eyes checked for cataracts? His special ability ALONE for makes this figure worth twice his points. Immune to mind control and can't be hit by people who are mind controlled....and not to mention TOTAL IMMUNITY TO penetrating/psycic blast. Don't know about you guys, but figures taking 6 penetrating damage is a dominating problem in my venue. There are a handful of d.c. figures that fight against penetrating damage:wonder woman from superman set, darkseid stony skin and THIS GRODD. Its a beautiful rarity. Marvel figures have little to none who can fight penetrating unless you cough up 25at points for repulsar shield. The stats are decent as well, 11 attack mid dial? Cataracts. People! Also who's complaining the lack of indomitable? Dudes got like over 3the clicks of willpower. Great figure, MUCH better than his arkyum asylum. Counter parts.
For 116 he isnt awful, he just isn't good, and he certainly isnt 5 stars. The below poster is loving his psy blast and mind control immunity but honestly, i cant tell you how few times i get mind controlled, ever, because it is very few and far between. As for psy blast, he has half a dial of toughness which only would be penetrating for 1 extra damage, and the rest is willpower where it does nothing. He starts with tk 17 def and toughness with no move and attack and barely anything to protect himself, making him a huge easily hittable target for any hitter that feels wasting a hit on him is worth it. I bet he is way better in 400+ games but if we are talking the standard 300 format meta he is crap. 116 pts for a tk monkey (no pun intended) is way too high to fit a real hitter on the team plus support. You ignore the ape who is now doing the job a 52 pt cosmo could do, kill the hitter, and then blow him to kingdom come. Heck, if I was playing the gauntlet I'd keep him around just to soul gem him for free health with toughness and a crap defense. Meh, meh, meh all around. If we are talking about being effective in friendly games, sure, he isnt bad, but any considering of high level play he falls apart instantly.

Hmmm...perhaps im reading his special wrong. Im led to believe that he is immune to all damage dealt from an attack utilizeing penetrating/psycic blast, otherwise it would be worded like the specials other characters have: "this character ignores the effects of penetrating psychic blast" which would mean his/her armor still stands for the attack. Grodd special reads differently....in terms of ignoring damage dealt not just the ability. I really don't see whizkids giving him this ability and no damage reducers....it wouldn't make sense. Could I get an official rule police on this one? Promise I wont argue...............unless I don't agree with the ruling. In which case your wrong. Lol
