While the Monsterpocalypse website has remained relatively quiet since the DreamWorks movie announcement, behind the scenes has been a constant flurry of activity as Privateer Press continues to work closely with our new partners defining the future of everyone’s favorite kaiju game.
In light of the success of the Monsterpocalypse battle miniatures game two-player starter released last October, Privateer Press has decided to move Monsterpocalypse into a new non-collectible format. Privateer Press will be releasing the first follow-up, Monsterpocalypse: Dangerous Monster Zone, in summer 2011. The expansion will feature figures from classic Monsterpocalypse series for the factions introduced in the core game. The new non-random format allows collectors and players to fill out their favorite factions easily, as each box will be clearly marked with its specific faction set.
Be sure to check www.monsterpocalypse.com in the coming months for more information on this exciting release as you get ready to reach out and crush someone!
This is good, I'll be more likely to purchase my Monpoc at my local venue now, especially when getting monster boosters.
Blind boosters w/ one monster in 'em was too risky!

That sounds more like they are repackaging existing figures rather than creating new ones, and to me that sounds like they might be trying to get rid of stock that doesn't sell by trying to convince people it is something new.
Hope I am wrong. A healthy game in a non-collectible format would be great for me as one of the friends I am trying to get into the game hates collectible games and this would probably tip him over the edge.
Nah, it's seems to just be a badly worded press release...

It sounds like it'll be new pieces, but they'll only be focusing on the factions released in the Core set. At least that's what I hope it means. Since other than one more Stealth Ape, I don't need any more of the same pieces I already have.

"figures from classic Monsterpocalypse series" sure sounds like reissues to me."
Can't imagine they would make more Rise Block new product before finishing Now Block. I'd be happy to be wrong, tho.

it'll be a good chance for me to pick up a re-issue of Defender X, anyway.
I read it as simply repacking old stuff to sell to new buyers. That's easy and cheap for PP so why not milk the market for a few more bucks?
The problem is that nowhere do I see any mention of series 6. I'm to the point where I seriously doubt it's ever going to come out. Until I hear otherwise, I think the gameline is essentially extinct. I still enjoy playing however.
However, if I'm proven wrong, I'm glad that the game moved away from blind boosters.
