We recently consolidated all the "Creative Corner" forums into a single location, with each skill/craft separated by Thread Prefixes. These Thread Prefixes (Maps, Scenarios, Illustrations, & Fiction) are intended to help people find what they are looking for, as well allow for a logical grouping of content (when used with the Filter option found at the bottom of the main Forum page.

That being said; I'd like to provide additional guidance regarding Thread Prefixes, as well as some basic rules in order to keep everything on the "up and up" in this area.

Thread Prefixes

• Maps - Used to label Threads that showcase custom maps or seeking advice/feedback about the map making process.
• Scenarios - Used to identify HeroClix gameplay scenarios.
• Illustrations - Used to label drawings and various 2D works of art.
• Fiction - "FanFics" and other works of literature.

Use of Copyright/Licensed Material
Please note that while HeroClix revolves around licensed product, the copyright holder is the only person that can authorize prepare derivative works based upon the copyrighted work. This essentially means that unless you have the approval of Marvel, DC Comics, or any other copyright holder ... don't use their work in your work.

"But what about Fair Use?"
As good question, in which everyone seems to fall back on because everyone seems to feel entitled nowadays, especially to things that aren't theirs. You're not a rebel; get over it. Here's all the reading on Fair Use you need to know.

"But HCRealms uses comic graphics all the time?"
That is correct, and we use it under the commentary and criticism statute of Fair Use. We do not try and misrepresent any content on the site as our own.

That being said, please do not submit anything to the Creative Corner that isn't original work. There are many ways to do this, but the best trick is to be vague.

Commercial/Sales Threads
This forum inherits the main HCRealms.com site rules, which prohibits advertising the sale of products (unless you are a current paid [direct] advertiser of HCRealms; "direct" means not through a 3rd party ad reseller like Google).
We will remove all posts & threads that we deem to be commercial in nature ... so please just don't do it. If found, Infractions will be assigned accordingly.

Linking Off-Site
We provide the ability for members to link out to products using the IMG BBCode, and that is the preferred way to showcase your work. It is NOT acceptible for you to create a thread who'se sole purpose is to link out to another site to show your work. That ads zero value to the community and falls under the Advertising rules of the forum. If the site being linked to is commercial or revenue-generating in nature, it will be considered a Commercial/Sales Thread and dealt with accordingly.

In short; this is HCRealms, and we do not appreciate your efforts to redirect traffic to your site. If you want to take market to the HCRealms community (that we've spent 10 years building), please go through the proper channels and contact [email protected] for details.

Thread Bumping
Don't do it; it's borderline pathetic. If you haven't formulated a topic that the community actively participates in without your prodding, you should just take a hint. All "bump posts" will be removed; and if it becomes a problem, Infractions will be issues accordingly.
