*The new Dangerous Monster Zone packs are older figures
*Once DMZ is release, stuff for existing players will be coming out(New monsters, new figures, and new factions ex.the movie monsters)
*The DMZ box is from a full block(3 sets).
*Possibility of older megas to be reproduced.
*Possible new hyper forms.
*(Most likely) Any future release will be non collectible *Series 6 included.
*More civilian units in series 6
*More character units
*Prize support will include reintroduced megas
Interesting. I actually feel a bit better about the future after listening to this. Reading between the lines it does sound like they really are just reformatting the releases and haven't given up on the game.
Do I hear right in that (at around the 7:30 mark) that DMZ should be out, like, very soon now? The interview was on the 21st of Feb and it sounds like he is saying DMZ should be done and release "within a few weeks" of that date. Anyone else get that impression?

The recap isn't exactly accurate. If you listen to the podcast it basically says that if the DMZ packs do well enough, they'll probably do a series 6. So series 6 isn't a sure thing by any stretch. Frankly, after this point I'd be shocked if they did it all. The DMZ's seem like a way to squeeze a bit more money out of what they already have (repacking is a cheap way to go).
It's a great game and I think that new players will get some value out of the DMZ sets even if it's just as a stand alone game. However, I don't think that DMZ coming out indicates any kind of sustainable future for MonPoc.

What is it that gave you that impression? The impression I got was that stuff was coming from all of the Rise Block.
"Dangerous Monster Zone will contain Series 2 and Series 3 Monsters."
I guess the person who said that could have meant these were in addition to Rise, but that's not the way I understand it. Of course, they have mentioned Rise earlier in the podcast, and I missed hearing it. But if so, going by kingbobb's post I wasn't the only one.

The comment I heard was that DMZ was intended to allow the Battle Box customer to complete his faction set, without resorting to blind chance. Since the 2PBB came with random factions, the DMZ follow up will have 6 faction boxes, maybe each containing 1 or 2 of the S2-3 monsters from that faction, 1 monument, and a matching installation, plus a good assortment of S2-3 units. The monster and monument will probably be rare, I would guess. They might go lighter on the units in order to accommodate multiple buys in order to get more monsters. But there are only 3 monsters per faction across S2-3, so putting all 3 in a single box wouldn't be crazy. The bigger question is whether the put all 3 monuments and the Insurance building in the box as well...getting an ISB might be enough to convince me to buy a DMZ box, especially if they do come with all three monsters.

Rise is a set, but it's also used to refer to the sets/factions in release group.
Rise Block
Block = Series 1/Rise, 2/ICNY,3/AYB.
Agendas remain constant but factions are particular to the block: Lords of Cthul, GUARD, Martian Menace, Terrasaurs, Planet Eaters, Shadow Sun Syndicate.
Right now the current set is the Now! Block.
Now! Block
Block = Series 4/Now1, Series 5/BiJ, Series 6/WhoKnows?
Agendas remain constant but factions are particular to the block: Subterran Uprising, Elemental Champions, Tritons, Empire of the apes, Savage Swarm, UCI.
So it's appropriate to say DMZ will have Rise block but refer to AYB/ICNY figures.
Yeah, just re-listened to the whole podcast and I don't know where you guys are getting the idea that DMZ doesn't include stuff from the Rise set.
The closest I can find to something along those lines is one of the interviewers asking (at just after 9 minutes) whether the DMZ release will be broken up by set as well as faction or whether the faction boxes will include a mix of figures from multiple sets. All the privateer guy says is that once DMZ is out then all the figures for each faction will be available. The interviewer kind of implies that there may not be more figures from the rise set, but the answer doesn't say anything about that.
So I guess the question is, do the various 2 player battle boxes include all of the Rise set figures for each faction?
Or do you guys have additional news that indicates DMZ will only include NY and AYB figures?
It is an entirely reasonable guess that DMZ will not include Rise set figures, I can certainly see how that would make sense to PP, but I am not aware of any evidence indicating one way or the other, certainly not in this podcast.
"The interviewer kind of implies that there may not be more figures from the rise set, but the answer doesn't say anything about that."
This bit that I quote from ForgottenLore's post is what is making people think may not be more figures from the Rise set. Though I could have swore it was an interviewee that made the statement, not an interviewer. But I have listened to it again either.
This sucks man. I hate people that are end of the world types, but come on. I can't believe they let it get like this. Gah I hate myself for even talking like that, but damn it seems like this is really toast.
Disappointing to get confirmation that DMZ is repacks.
But... if it grows the playerbase, it isn't all bad. I just wish we'd get something new.
Release a new map pack or something. Don't just leave the fanbase hanging.
I don't think anyone's said it was repacks. Some have mentioned that there appear to be differences between the Battle Box figures and the original Rise figures in terms of paint quality, so it may actually be a new production run of the older molds. And it's hard to imagine that PP's had enough S1-3 boosters just sitting around taking up warehouse space for 2+ years to supply a 2PBB/DMZ production run.
