The group I'm playing with has been playing only mixed games pretty much but some of us feel that the game works better if you only play all marvel or all DC. I feel the game is a little unbalanced when you throw the two together but I was just wondering how everyone else plays.
We usually play Marvel only or DC only. As far as mixing goes, my only house rule would be to not allow wildcards to copy team abilities from the other universe, as that seems to be the biggest abuse I've seen in mixed games.

We mix when we play, but we don't mind cause we also paid for em, and that's our way of having fun. However, we don't mix for tornaments, and it works against you if you've been mixing team abilities and powers and have gotten used to having a particular power only to find out the tournament won't allow it.
Of course, everyone mixes Doombots with the Batman Team ability, only to look shocked when my Annihilus is mixed with the r Steel Superman Team ability.
i play it both ways depending on my mood. none of the guys i play with ever mind the mixing -- and they do it themselves often when just fielding all good/bad guy teams.
and personally -- i think the spiderman team using the batman team ability is absolutely killer.

Around here, we generally play teams that are all marvel or all DC, but have no problem playing Marvel teams vs DC teams.
Generally speaking, no one hereabouts likes the interaction of Wildcard and Team Batman/Superman, so we avoid the whole issue by keeping the teams one or the other. In terms of Marvel vs DC, it works just fine, but Marvel has a noticable advantage in the higher average attack/defense stats.
Thanks for the ideas. Playing marvel vs DC seems like a pretty good idea. Team abilties and wildcards is what was making the game a little less fun. So maybe seperating the universe team abilities will work too. Thanks everybody.
The only problem with mixing the universes is when you play with wildcard team members from Marvel. Avoid that and you avoid the problem. Playing Marvel against DC can be very fun too.
We're an "anything-goes" crowd. We mix all the time, even to the point of using Wildcards to copy the Batman/Superman team abilities (cheap, I know, but not the cheapest tactic out there...). No one really seems to mind...although the awesome power of BatDoom may convince them otherwise.
And, if nothing else, it's great to see the Joker hiring Mr. Fixit to do his dirty work for him...:D
When we play we always allowed mixed teams, but last time we did that my team consisted of Vet Daredevil (IC), Vet Spiderman, Exp Batman, Rookie Robin, and Vet Robin. Considering my friends always liked (past tense) to use figs like firelord and bullseye, i dominated. The next time we played mixed teams I dropped Vet. Robin and added Exp Shadowcat and dominated again (although this time one of my friends put a few heavy melee fighters). So i dont think that we will be using wildcard abilities cross universes now.
We pretty much just mix and match. But then, one of my sons prefers the DC while the rest of us prefer Marvel, so we have to if we want to include him (and we do).
We play mixed and no one ever whines about it that's the beauty of it. We all paid for the clix and one of the reason we bought more than one expension is to create teams that could never be in the world of comics due trademarks and ####. I have a team called the Justice League of Avengers East Coast and a West Coast. As you can guess I did a little dream teaming with the Avengers and the JLA and it's rocks. Sure the teams might not be as efficient as they could but they are cool theme teams and are fun to play.
Mixing wildcards...We do not have a problem with that. If someone wants to abuse the Batman ability ? Fine it goes both ways. And if I really want to teach someone a lesson I put my R steel with Ultron E.
We started by playing that you could have Marvel or DC on your team but not both(we still have that for marquees). But now we play mix anything you want and I think it is better and opens the door for more strategies and variety. The only quasi-abuse I have seen is copying the batman ally ability(which is not a big deal in my view since there are plenty of naugty figures that have stealth that can be abused eg. BFC people with a flier behind them). Althought eh one thing that irritates me is that Bane kicks teh snot out of Jugernaught
Sometimes in House games we will mix the two. However, in sanctioned tournaments you are not allowed to mix the two unis. This has something to do with licensing agreements. I personally think its all right to play highbrid teams. I've even combined HeroClix with MageKnight.
I have tried many times to play mixed DC/Marvel games but I have the feeling the 2 universes are not really compatible.
Marvel characters have high values for attack and defense. While DC characters have more powers and do lot more damage (I hate to think that this stupid Bane can make more damage than Thanos).
While having more powers, outwit is more common to DC characters. In Marvel only Black Panther and the Mandarin have outwit on the beginning.
So mixing the 2 universe results in a game not very interesting. Too many outwit (I hate this power which always seems stupid to me).
What's more what could DC guys could do against characters like Ultron/Firelord... who only miss then on a double 1 and have a 18 defense ?
Most of the time mixing DC/Marvel results in adding DC outwitters and perplexers. Not very funny.
