"You need to listen, Batman!" said Zatanna, walking through the hall of the League's satelitte HQ.

"I am listening, Zatanna...and I just don't care." Batman stopped and whirled on her. "You may be new to League, but not to super-heroing in general. The League takes care of its own. It means we watch each other's backs, protect each other secret identies, and not leave anyone behind. He's lucky to have not been wiped out with the rest of the JLI. Who knows how long he has been at mercy of the entire Legion of Doom?"

"I know Bruce, said Zatanna reassuringly, "but the Spectre himself says he doesn't know how long we can keep crossing dimesions like this without letting that...Entity for a better word in."

"It will be one more time." said Batman. "Can I count on your other team to help?"

"Yes, they are already assembed in the main hall." answered Zatanna. "And as for my other team...I think I will stay with them."

"Are you resigning from the League?" Batman looked baffled.

"No, I was thinking of acting like a liason, like Carter does with the Justice Society." answered Zatanna.

"That sounds fine." Batman and Zatanna were almost to the hall. "Are current events the only reason for this?"

"Observant as always." Zatanna said with a twinkle in her eye. "When I first meet the League...it was a simpler time. I just don't like progress."

"Things are never simple, Zee." said Batman, addressing her like most of the League did, a first for him. "And you can't bring the past into the present . Trust me on that. The is more complicated because the member's personal lives have grown. Lokk at those who started out unmarried and are now."

"I know, and I want to be part of a team from the beginning. The League gave me my parents, my past...now Shadowpact will be my future."

Batman stopped just short of the hall, and pulled back his cowl. "Then go, with my blessing." He kissed her on the cheek.

"I think not, Bruce." Zatanna grabbed him and gave him a real kiss. Though surprised, Bruce didn't fight to get away. "Besides, I'm just a !EVACTAB EHT OT EM EKAT away." They continued into the hall, after Batman replaced his cowl.

"Shadowpact, you did well last time you went over doing this, you can do it again." Batman started. We know through...intel that J'onn is being held on what is called Utopia island, Alcatraz in San Fransico Bay. He is being guarded by the X-Men and their associates, mutants who are super beings with just one power."

Hawkgirl raised her hand, as she and other members of the JSA had arrived via the teleportation tubes. "Are we going to serve as a distractionary force also?"

"Yes, Hawkgirl." Batman nodded. "There are a lot of mutants on this island, So with you on the North side, and the Shadowpact on the south, the League can go right for J'onn without the whole Island converging on them."

"Why small teams, then?" asked Blue Devil.

"Fighting mutants will be hard enough." said Batman, "Without attracting the Legion of Doom's attention. If we went over en mass, or sent Superman, Luthor would be all over us."

"Is the spell that I cast working, Batman?" said Jason Blood.

"Yes, I can see through your eyes, and Hawkgirl's and Wonder Woman's." said Batman.

"It also acts like telepathy, so I and the other two are in mental contact with you as well." smiled Blood.

"Then, godspeed to all." said Batman as the Atom used the matter transporter to send the 3 teams off. "See, Zatanna, I was listening. A mass teleportation is better that 3 seperate ones."

"Thanks for the consideration." said Zatanna but suddenly a huge green man burst into the room, right through the bulkhead!

"Drax looking for red and blue...there he is!" the Destroyer went right for Superman, even as Green Lantern plugged up the hole, but not before Phylla and Adam slipped in.

"Take care of them" said Batman as he slipped into the shadows. "I need to stay in contact with our other teams!"

"I will." Zatanna assesed the situation. "PLEH, ETAF .RD" but after sehe send out her distress call, Adam used his weird magic to silence her, the knock her out before taking off to let his teammates in.

"Scott, I'm registering 3 other-dimensional breachs on the island." the Beast said, looking at the new scanners Luthor had provided.

"They are here." said Scott. "Sam, take your team and intercept one them. Emma, take Magneto and a squad o intercept he other. I'll stay with a group to intercept whoever is coming." The other mutants scrambled to assembe teams to meet this threat, leaving Scott alone with the prisoner.

"You'll be going home soon enough." Scott said, hand pressed to the glass. "Your friends have come for you." Even though the prisoner's hyper-senses were being dampened in every way, he could still sense Cyclops. He pressed a hand to where Scott's was, and mouthed a "Thank You". Scott walked away, ready to make sure the prisoner stayed secure.
