I have a quick question about how Heimdall's power works when damage from a HSS attack is masterminded off to him. Captain America RS and targets Loki who then masterminds the damage to his fellow Asgardian and teammate Heimdall. Would Heimdall take damage? His power reads:
"Sight to the 9 World's: Characters using Charge, Running Shot, or HSS deal no damage to Heimdall. Heimdall ignores other character's shape change and stealth."
Appreciate the help, couldn't find the answer but HoT has been out awhile.
I would say that Heimdall will ignore the damage. The damage is being dealt by HSS, even though it wasn't being dealt to Heimdall originally, so his game text would trigger.
I'm not 100% sure, but that's how I'd rule it if it came up in a tournament.
I, too, think this is an excellent question. Seems the answer would be that he would take no damage.

I would think he would take the damage, he is not taking the damage from the HSS or RS, he is taking it from mastermind.
It just happens to originate from one of those powers.
Where do I go to set up a haves/wants list?
I for some odd reason can't find a link to do this.
I also feel he would take the damage. The Mastermind figure isn't using Charge/RS/HSS speed, it is using Mastermind. I don't think that the power used by the initiating opposing figure would fall under the additional properties line included in Mastermind.
He does take the damage as stated it is from MM not the attack.
The same reason that Protected would not work for a figure when damage is MM on to them.
The same reason that Mystics does not activate since the damage is not from an attack, but rather MM.

I would have to agree that he would take the damage.
The damage is from a RS or HSS attack, granted. But, Heimdal himself is not being dealt the damage because of the RS or HSS, He is being dealt it via the Mastermind

The difference is that Mystics as written only activates when damage is taken from an attack. Heimdall has no such stipulation.
I could be wrong, but I think Heimdall might be able to ignore the damage. Here's Mastermind:
Quote
When this character would be dealt damage, you may instead
choose to have all the damage be dealt to a single adjacent
friendly character with a point value less than this
character’s. Any additional effects of the damage dealt
(knock back, penetrating damage, etc.) are applied to the
character taking the damage. Damage dealt by this power is
not an attack.
And Sight to the Nine Worlds:
Quote
Characters using Charge,
Running Shot, or Hypersonic Speed deal no damage to
Heimdall. Heimdall ignores other characters' Shape Change
and Stealth.
While the target of the attack remains the same (hence why Mystics or similar effects won't activate), the target of the damage being dealt is changed. Since Sight to the Nine Worlds doesn't take into account whether Heimdall was the target of an attack or not, and simply shuts down any damage that might be dealt to him, I would argue he would take no damage if a Mastermind shunted it onto him.
edit: or I could be completely off-base
edit 2: yeah, the "damage dealt by this power" line in mastermind supports r2fu2 et al and refutes me completely

If I have NanoArmor on Spider-Man he ignores damage from the Laser Turret. Now if that same Turret targets Immortus and he MMs it to Spidey he still ignores the damage since it was from an object. That's how it's been ruled in the past.
Same basic principle. So why wouldn't it be the same answer?
Oh wait, I'm trying to insert logic into clix. :speechles

If that was how it was ruled in the past, I expect it to be changed. The damage would be dealt to Immortus from the object, but the damage is being dealt to Spider-Man as a result of MasterMind, not the object.
or better:
Quote
Nanoarmor:
Prerequisites: {starburst}
Choose a character.
The character ignores damage dealt by objects as well as all modifiers to damage dealt to or taken by this character due to objects.
It wasn't taken or dealt due to the object, it was due to the mastermind.

or better:
It wasn't taken or dealt due to the object, it was due to the mastermind.
It was ruled that way at Worlds due to the Damage originating from an object. In the same sense that if the damage had been dealt by PB/EW then the damage would not be reduced when MM'd to an Imp/Inv/Tough figure.
