View Poll Results: Who's version of Luxury Liner do you prefer
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
Boo! I like the informal, reply in the Quick Reply box with all of your arguments and reasons format better. This is the easy way out.
(Yes, yes - I know - the option to wax poetic/philosophic/bull####tic is still there, I just don't think people will do so.)
I voted for the original. Albert Lee's version is good, but a little too manic for the subject material. I think he'd have been a blast to watch live in concert, though.
May all your hits be crits!
On the whole, human beings want to be good — but not too good, and not quite all the time. - George Orwell
Albert is the real deal. What a genuine nice person who always seems to have time to chat. One of England's most prolific guitarists, he owns the country scene here in the US.
Parson's version has shades of Mike Nesmith style Monkees songs all the way through and that's cool.
My vote is for Albert Lee. Probably the very best guitarist you've never heard of. I can't even begin to tell you of how many guitarists he's influenced and how many great rock guitarists (Clapton and Page for two) are fans of his. Here's a guy who you don't have to be a fan of country music to appreciate his playing.
Now I won't have to maintain my blog. Assuming I remember to do this everytime that is.

I had the same thought about the original's Mike Nesmith feel. In fact, after hearing both versions in this match-up, I went looking for "Silver Moon" by MN & the First National Band.
VG9, thanks for sharing your comments about Albert Lee. The streak remains intact; I've never heard or read a negative thing about this gifted man.
That kind of thing may be rare, but always nice to know. I certainly do like his performance here.
That said...
The Cover -- Albert Lee, please!
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!
Songwriterz has a point about people not posting. I notice AlienFlanders simply voted without posting. I'd think he might want to see what might be said. I'll have to point that out to him.
I reluctantly vote against my man Gram Parsons but I do love good pickers.
