ENERGY EXPLOSION Give this character a ranged combat action to make
an attack that deals no damage. For each target character successfully hit, all adjacent characters are attacked as well. Each character hit is dealt damage equal
to the number of times it was hit by this attack (characters adjacent to multiple
targets might be hit more than once). Critical hits deal 1 additional damage to all
characters hit.
Does this mean that characters hit by the 'splash' will be able to roll for super senses and shape change?
Quote
SUPER SENSES When this character is hit by an attack, you may roll a d6 before
damage is dealt. On a result of 5 or 6, this character evades the attack.
Quote
SHAPE CHANGE When this character is chosen as the target of an attack, you may
roll a d6. On a result of 5 or 6, the attacker can’t target this character with an attack this
turn and the attacker may choose another target character instead. The attacker then
makes the attack unless there are no targets, in which case the action resolves without an
attack.
Sounds like a no on the shape change, yes on the Super Senses. Correct?
Also it sounds like Energy Shield/Deflection will also provide defense against the splash damage? As well as hindering terrain.
Im not sure if any of this is even different from before. The power doesn't seem to come up much and i just want to make sure i get it right from here on out.
Thanks!
EE has always triggered ES/D and Supersenses and never Shape Change.
Not true. EE was never considered an 'attack' against charactrers that received splash damage before. Now the PAC makes that distinction, so they would now get to roll for Super Senses.
It still won't trigger shape Change, as they need to be 'chosen' for the attack, not just attacked.

This is what I was thinking, but like I said it's been some time before i've given it any thought.

According to the BN PAC, it was. I will have to go through my PAC's (have most since IC) and see when the change was exactly made. But, I know that BN had it worded as an attack.

Im suprised nobody mentioned the big change....NO DAMAGE

It's worded as an attack against the initial target, but not against the 'splash' characters. For those you were simply comparing the roll to their defense values. They weree never 'attacked. Looking at the PAC from BN right now.
Yes you will, and this has always been the case as long as the Mystics TA has existed.
Pretty sure this isn't the case either, as splash damage never 'targeted' a Mystics figure (per the BN PAC). It was one of the slick ways to avoid Mystics damage as I never 'attacked' them.
However, now a mystics team will *utterly decimate* an EE team.
In case you dont get it trun to page 9 of the rules:
Quote
NO DAMAGE
Damage from an attack that deals no damage can’t be modified.
Imperv/Toughness/Invuln none of that works against EE....EE just got a HUGE power boost.

No, it wasn't. Mystics doesn't care if you target them or not, nor have they ever.
From the Players Guide:
"MYSTICS
When a character using the Mystics team ability takes damage from an attack, the attacker is dealt 1 unavoidable damage. This damage is not an attack."
Energy Explosion has always been an attack, it has always dealt damage and thus is has always triggered Mystics feedback. It's never been a way around it

ENERGY EXPLOSION Give this character a ranged combat action; this attack can target only characters. For each target successfully hit, compare the attack roll to the defense value of each character adjacent to that target to determine if the attack also succeeds against it. Each character hit is dealt damage equal to the number of times it was hit by this attack (characters adjacent to multiple targets might be hit more than once). A critical hit automatically hits all targets and all characters adjacent to the targets and deals 1 additional damage to all characters hit. If a character evades the attack, it evades all hits by this attack.
The bolded says that it is indeed an attack on the adjacent characters as well. You are targeting the main one (or two/ three) character(s), but it is still an attack on all adjacent characters.
It doesn't outright say it like it does now, but it was an attack before on adjacent characters. Also, Mystics would trigger as they take damage from the attack.
