Prologue

The New Mutants went to their common room after the run-in with the JSA and then the break with Luthor and the LOD.


"I feel like spreading my wing and wings and flying." said Dani. "We are beholden to no one, hunted by no one, we can just...relax a little."

"I just want to forget." said Magma, gloomily.


"And why is that, child?" Luthor's face suddenly appeared on the TV in the room, causing her to jump.

"How are you doing this?" Magic demanded.

"The how doesn't matter, only the what and the why." said Luthor. "such as, do your teammates know what you were doing the past week, Amara? And why?"

"Do you'all think we are gonna believe any you'all say, Luthor?" said Cannonball.

"He's...he's not lying, Sam." Magma's voice was barely a whisper. "Remember the blackmail material he has on us? He promised to get rid of it, one member a day...if I helped him."

"Helped him do what?" Karma walked up. "Whatever it is..."

"I helped him burn the prisoner because he was vunerable to fire." Again Magma's voice again was barely audible. "Every day, and at the end, Luthor would hand me a folder filled with stuff, which I burned. But he was busted out before I got them all."

"Correct, my dear." Luthor smiled "I still have yours and Cannonball's. What shall we do about that?"

"Wait a minute." said Dani. "Does Cycolps know?"

"Yes." Magma nodded. "Luthor, Scarecrow, and Riddler took great pride in rubbing his face in it."

"Well, why did you'll call, Luthor?" Sam turned back to the TV.

"If I'm going to make a clean break, then I should return these files to you." Luthor said. " Meet me at the co-ordinates at the bottom of the screen."
