Doc Watson's voice IS the voice of a Long Journey.

Original in a heartbeat (so to speak) for me.

Took a couple of listens.
Doc for me.

Same for me and same result.

I'll add another vote for the Doc. Alison's voice is much prettier, but you don't always want pretty. Doc's rougher vocals works for a song that is basically about grief.

I like them both about evenly. It was nice get Doc in these matches. Threw my vote for Plant and Krauss. Two masters like them should not get skunked.

My thoughts exactly.

BTW, when I first heard about her new "Paper Airplane" album, I started wondering how long it'll be before we see Ms. Krauss in match-ups with Richard Thompson and Jackson Browne.

The Cover -- Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, please!

I don't always vote for Alison Krauss; sometimes with the originals you really feel the emotions that prompted a performer to create the song. But this time I like her.

My vote is for the cover by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. BTW, Plant's going to perform at Merlefest, hosted by Doc Watson, in North Wilksboro, NC in a couple of weeks. My son said that he doesn't think Alison going to be there this year.
