View Poll Results: Which version of "Gimme Some Lovin'" do you prefer?
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
Thanks drfate. It is hard to go too far wrong with this song. As for me, I give a slight edge to the Blues Brothers, but I'll listen to either version happily.
Voting for the Blues Brothers here would be like voting for the Monkees over the Rolling Stones. One of them is actually a real band.
Spencer Davis Group.
Donald "Duck" Dunn formerly with Booker T and the MGs
Steve Cropper formerly with Booker T and the MGs
Willie Hall formerly with the Bar-Kays and Isaac Hayes
Matt "Guitar" Murphy formerly with Howlin' Wolf
I'm struggling to see the Monkees analogy.
I did vote Spenser Davis Group though.

Before Dunn and Cropper were the MGs, they were the Stax house band, and Cropper cowrote most of Otis Redding's biggest hits, as well as Wilson Pickett's "In the Midnight Hour." They might have had comic actors on the lead vocal mics, but the Blues Brothers band had some darned serious players. That said, I have to go with Spencer Davis. The vocals are what really separate these two tracks, and, in spite of this week's avatar, I have to concede that Belushi and Ackroyd can't compete with Steve Winwood in his prime.

...back when he was -- what, 18? -- known as "Little Stevie Winwood."
Holy Crow....with all due respect, I am baffled, wondering how anyone could vote for Belushi-Ackroyd here.
EDIT: (Edited for unintentional snarkiness) But that's what makes these matches interesting!
That said...
The Original -- The Spencer Davis Group, please!

Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!
