I like that we cannot yet leave reviews for the new Green Lantern figures. This gives people a chance to actually play them or play against them for a while before posting instead of spewing their gut reaction comments after looking at a dial for the first time.

LOL its not going to stop people from leaving reviews without playing them... just delay them. I will probably still leave reviews without playing pieces
To be honest, even if people play these pieces their ratings will be biased anyways. The people they play against, the army the use with the figure... all of it will be different. I dont see the issue in letting people put their ratings up early. Im going to look at the ratings for sure....but I will just look. I will base my ranking of the figure off how I view the dial and if I play it, how it does.

He he, a few minutes ago, I wanted to reply to your post before you edited it, but I did think about it a little and came to a somewhat similar conclusion (which is the part I bolded).
I still think the more you play a piece, the better you can review it, but I have to admit that many (if not most) of the comments I posted were done after I played a figure only once. It's not much different than reviewing it based on the dial alone, I agree.
I don't necessarily think you have to have used a figure extensively before you're capable of writing a good review--anonymouse does his primer reviews before he's played with any of the figures, I think, and those reviews are great.
But I think that people should generally give a figure at least a run or two before they post. I look at GSX's Magneto's page and I see a lot of what I consider spam. I don't even bother reading most of those reviews because they were posted weeks before the set was even released.
Is there not some merit to the fact that people can rate a figure on a dial without playing it? Raw numbers, level of the special powers etc can all be used to calculate a figures usefulness. Lets not forget the figures dial was released months before the set. People could have printed the dial and proxied the figure.
I do think there are a ton of EHHH comments, but I dont think those necessarily correlate with having played a figure or not. That has to do with people just being silly in general.

It's not that I disagree with you, but I guess I personally use the units section to get a feel for figures that I haven't used. I figure if a person posts based on simply having looked at the dial, unless that person is somebody particularly perceptive, then their review isn't really going to help me. I'd rather see, "Here's how I used this figure, here's how he performed," etc.

It doesn't replace true battlefield experience IMO (that would be having played a figure a lot), but it's not so different from playing it a few times only.

Do people really do that ?
(honest question, never seen anybody do so, except on old HCO maybe)
