So it's been confirmed that there will a new Smash game for the Wii U. Let's have a discussion about who will think will be returning and who will be new characters. Who do you think will be nerfed? Who will be amped up? Which final smashes do you think will be or want to be changed?
There are those given characters (Mario, Link, Pikachu), but I am pretty certain that Snake and Sonic will return. I'm hoping for Ness, but after the tease about him not being in Brawl, I wonder if he will be replaced. I have a feeling Lucario will be dropped and replaced with Zoaroark (or whatever he is). As for other new characters, I'm really hoping for Alex from Eternal Darkness (No way it will happen, but I can dream). I would say Megaman, but I'm betting Capcom will not let him near the game.
For Final Smashes, let's give Peach the Psych Bomb from Super Mario RPG. Make Mario's a lot more powerful. Reduce the cheese factor of Sonic's. Make Jigglypuff's (let's face it, he'll return) useful.
The only character who needs a nerf is Meta Knight. I wouldn't mind seeing Marth get powered up a little more, though maybe people I play against wouldn't like the sound of that
As for character speculation, Megaman is the only logical choice when third party characters are mentioned. Maybe Alucard as well? I can't even think of any new Nintendo characters that might be used though. I'd put money on someone new from Kid Icarus since that's what Sora is working on before doing the new Smash Bros. game.
First of all this is amazing news. After my Wii has been collecting dust for a year I wasn't sure I would look at the new Nintendo for a while but Super Smash Bros. is my favourite game of all time so now I will likely be all over this on day one.
I agree Metaknight is a bit overpowered. And I could get behind switching up the Pokemon.
For third party Mega Man really seems like the best fit, I would also like to see Simon Belmont to help fill out the Captain N roster. I would also love to see Ridley or Mother Brain from Metroid and one or two other Sonic characters maybe Tails, Shadow, Knuckles, or even Dr. Robotnick/Eggman. Another idea might be someone from Resident Evil. regardless if we had another 3 or 4 third party characters I would be thrilled.
I have never been able to use MetaKnight effectively, but I'm highly skilled with my favorite character in the game (guess who!).
Kid Icarus wouldn't lend another character that easily. The only notable character other than Pit is the eggplant wizard.
It would be cool to see Pokemon trainer get the starters from Gold/Silver.
I imagine Pikachu and Jigglypuff will return. I'm hoping all of the original 12 will. There's rumors that all characters will be there, plus we will be able to download new characters. I'm not holding my breath on that, though. I wonder if the soundtrack will be as epic as Brawl's.
I don't know why you are down on the Eggplant Wizard, I would love to see the Eggplant Wizard. See my above two posts for the reason why.
I'm not down on him. I just think he would make a better assist trophy than a playable character. But then again, I love the Ice Climbers, and they had almost nothing to work with there. I must say, I'm surprised Pit didn't get his hammer as an attack.
Just give me a Samus that stays in her freakin' armor. I hated the fact that her super made her lose the armor and she'd have to run around in that blue painted on spandex atrocity.
Give me my girl in armor, and let me kick ### with her for the whole game. Then I'm good to go.

I actually prefer Zero-Suit over Armored Samus. Frankly, Samus hasn't been as useful since the first game to me. She's suffered from Kirby syndrome, getting weaker with each game.

I can get behind this. One thing, though. I would love to see greater distinctions in characters like Gannondorf and the Star Fox boys. It would be awesome if they brought back the 5 they cut (even if Pichu was mostly useless), and added about 10 more characters. Plus expand upon the stage builder.
Do people really want Lucario in the next game? Or Jeff?
I'd rather more time spent on creating new characters than updating old ones, and there're definitely a few I wouldn't mind seeing go away. There's something to be said for a roster that gets way too big and has characters who are completely superfluous.

I can't imagine the roster ever getting too big. If there are characters I don't use that's a lot better than having characters I wish I could use, I'm never going to wish that there were less characters in a fighting game. I know SFIV is now at 39 and if they added another 20 I would still keep buying and using them. And MVC2 had tons of characters and I never thought that it was too many.
