Holy hell, Philly! That takes some brass. I am very aware that it at least looks like they got some good value in return for the trades that is going to be a very differnt team next year...............their play-off spot might be up for grabs.

Two thoughts on that............moving the 2 big players only makes scence to me if they have Brad Richards ready to sign on July 1st. Just moving Carter should have been enough cap space for Bryzgalov.....right?

The other thought( not serious) is that Ms Pronger was the reason for this as well as she is up to her old tricks.

And good on LA for taking that trade.................they were a very up and coming team that had a injury riddled season. Now they get to add Mike Richards (who is an all world first team consideration.......as he was at the Olympics) to that. Not a fan of the franchice but they are starting to look very strong.

Avalanche deal Liles to Maple Leafs

John-Michael Liles is surprised and excited to be heading for Toronto.

Liles, a 30-year-old defenseman, was traded by the Colorado Avalanche on Friday to the Maple Leafs in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2012 Entry Draft that Toronto previously acquired from Boston.

Also, it's been confirmed that they will be called the Winnipeg Jets.

It had to be the Jets. Sorry, but there was no other option.

Oh, there was. Never underestimate managements willingness to sell new jerseys and not let you use your old ones.

I am pleased that this did not come to pass.

The ONLY reason I had an issue with "Jets" was because they don't have ANYTHING to do with the Jets. No history. No statistics. No nothing. It all belongs to the Phoenix Coyotes. I felt "start fresh".

Can we please convince the Hurricanes to move back to Hartford? I want Hartford. I want the Whalers. Although al-PETA may whine about it...
