Played a team last week against scenario Galactus. Wanted to verify that we played this right.
Magneto -
MAGNETIC SHIELD: Magneto can use Toughness. Characters halve their range values when Magneto is one of the targets of their attack.
Galactus -
Movement - Galactus does not move unless he is defeated, and then he leaves the battlefield.
Combat- ............This action must target the character that damaged Galactus in the previous action.
Since Magneto can hit Galactus from 10 squares, but Galactus cannot reach Magneto due to Magneto's special power, was it correct to assume Galactus cannot retaliate against Magneto's team since Magneto cannot be targeted?
Without seeing the whole section of his retaliate combat I would say no he cannot since his range is halved.
Also remember that goes for other targets aswell. So he would halved his range for everyone if he tries to target Magneto.

That is along the lines of thought we had. If Galactus cannot target Magneto, and the action must target the character that did the damage, then Galactus cannot retaliate.
Except, that like Maraud just said..when playing the scenario rules, Big G would be placed in the middle of the map.
It is still possible for Magneto to stay at the very edge of the map and be outside of Galactus' range (since it would be halved to 8 if he tried to attack Magneto).
Look at it this way if Galactus is in the center of a standard 2' x 3' map that's 24 squares long. He would be taking up 3 on each side of the map. If his range is cut in half, that's an 8 range. He would be able to see everywhere on the board except the first row of the starting area. Magneto would be safe from any attacks and would have an eventual win against the scenario. And since the longest range is 16 as of right now magneto would win against most scenario figs.
Mind you there are other mechanics from the figs, such as spirit tokens or galactus's machine.
