I recently scored a bunch of the new hydra figs from the Cap set, and I'm trying to come up with a 300pt and 400pt modern age themed team for them. Here's what I have so far:
Baron Strucker 150
Gorgon 106
Viper 91
Fixer 102
Mentallo 71
Richard Fisk 62
Scorpion 76
Hardball 34
Yelena Belova 60 (her trait allows her to be hydra)
5x Hydra Agents 25 each
For 300pts I'm thinking Strucker, Viper, and 2 Hydra Agents for 291pts and then find a special object or something to fill the gap (I don't have the crimson gem unfortunately). But to boost the above team to 400pts is where I have problems. I like the idea of adding Scorpion for poison and support, as well as a 3rd agent and maybe a feat or two but I'm not sold on anything yet. Can someone please give me some feedback soon? I want to try Hydra at my venue ASAP, so any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I've tried the one you speak off : Strucker + Viper + 2 Agents. I played it against a SHIELD team made of Nick Fury, Falcon, a SHIELD Specialist and Maria Hill. I've chosen the Junkyard map, to get the best of my Agent's Stealth. It helpoed a lot, and I won.
I would be curious to see what this one can do :
Fixer 102
Mentallo 71
Richard Fisk 62
Hydra Agent x2 50
Crimson Gem of Cyttorak 5
Any one Lantern 5
295 pts
Fixer can use his ability to change the special objects into something useful according to the situation. Fisk grants him Mastermind and take damage whenever an HYDRA Agent is KOed. You got three steasth to play with.
You can also remove Richard Fisk and the special objects and play Scoprion instead for 299 pts.
Or fi you feel more "close-combat oriented", you can go with :
- Richard Fisk 62
- Gorgon 106
- Scoprion 76
- HYDRA Agent x2 50
- Orange Lantern or Crimson Gem of Cyttorak 5
299
Richard Fisk will allow Gorgon to use Mastermind, a critical advantage since he will need to come close to be effective. Use your Agent to hide until you can finally charge in. The Orange Lantern will enhance Scoprion's poison range, or she can give a shot at the CRismon Gem to become even more deadly. I would choose the Lantern over the Gem, but it's a matter of taste.
If you want to play that last team at 400 pts just add Fixer and replace the Gem/Lantern by Scorpio's Key (4 pts). He will help moving the team across the board and bring another stealth to the party.

Team is designed for Richard Fisk to give Red Skull mastermind, while Viper outwits and perplexes from stealth to enhance Red Skulls combat values and/or damage potential.

"We buy things we don't need, with money we don't have, to impress people we don't like..."
Well, XForceDeadpool1 doesn't have one (not in his list above), so I didn't use it in my proposals.
I would try this one :
Red Skull 140
Richard Fisk 62
Fixer 102
Hellfire 45
HYDRA Agent x2 50
399
Or this one :
Red Skull 140
Fixer 102
Hellfire 45
HYDRA Officer x2 60
HYDRA Agent x2 50
397
Yeah, I like Fixer a lot : he can turn an object into Shield Disruptor to prevent damage reducing powers from working ; nasty with poison. Hellifre and Fisk can both takes damage for HYDRA Agents summoning, eventually leading Hellfire to add one Poison to your total (not bad at all).
Or again this one
Red Skull 140
Richard Fisk 62
Madame Hydra 75 (better than Viper IMO)
Hellfire 45
HYDRA Agent x3 75
397
Lots of Mastermind to play with, but not as much mobility as the other two.

played this against a team of Super Adaptoid, Mentallo and 5 Adaptoids and it played out very well. Only 1 mistake in the match where i rolled BCF on a HYDRA Agent due to seeing a red power on his AV on his dial when it was infact energy explosion as stated on the card. due to that i killed off 1 of the Adaptoids in 1 hit mid way through the game and noticed later that it was not the correct power and apologiesed to my opponent. The actual game did take forever though due to so many pieces on the board having to be moved.
Oh !
JUst though about a Golden age team :
Build
CA052 Red Skull 140
+ AAF002 Lunge 5
+ JLF007 Contingency Plan 12
CA017 Richard Fisk 62
CA003 Hydra Agent x2 50
SN031 Fixer 52
SN088 Baron Strucker 74
395
You can add a special object for 5 points, or another feat.

In regards to AgentP's suggestions, I do like the idea of a flier that can kill a peanut-base Cap's shield and t-bolt into the mystics TA. I'll try both the last team you suggested and my original team idea and see how they both do. Thanks!
SR Strucker 150 + Vampirism 12
Dick Fisk 62
Hydra Agent 25
Hydra Agent 25
Hydra Agent 25
(299)
Hydra Agents form the wall while Dick Fisk eats Hydra damage to get to Outwit while respawning Hydra Agents. He then Outwits through his Hydra goons as Strucker shoots.
When Strucker gets mid-dial his Vampirism will activate, allowing him to heal while draining the life force of those who oppose him. If things go south he has regen to fall back on.
It would also be worth Strucker taking Hydra damage to keep his troops around if possible since he can heal (if he gets knocked off his first 2 clicks).
I like the idea of using some Gravity Feed Hydra Officers with their Leadership (to clear a Hydra goon) and eventual support (to help Dick Fisk).
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.

Weird, I was told by some other players at my venue that you can't use feats at 300pts. I'll have to go back and ask my judge about it. Also, wouldn't vampirism work on Strucker's first few clix too because the SP says he can use either b/c/f or EE.

When you mentioned feats in the second paragraph of your OP I thought that meant Golden Age.
And yes, Strucker could use Vampirism when his SP lets him use BCF. I forgot about what his SP did.
