I was checking out the sculpts for Mechwarrior. This game seemed like it had a lot going for it. The sculpts were really good, the universe is well developed, the storyline is interesting.
So why did MW go the way of the Albatross?
Was there anything you can pinpoint? Did it sell well? Was it just a TOPPS move like when they shut down Heroclix? Why did MW go down?
But...Nightcrawler really has been my favorite character for years.
I think Topps sold the rights to Mechwarrior to a different company when they dumped everything WizKids related. Don't quote me on this but I think that is what happened.

I think Catalyst Games currently has the rights. Yeah, I vaguely remember when that discussion hit the Realms. There was mention of a unicorn, some guy in Arizona, furries, and yiffing.
I greatly disliked the Infantrywarrior aspect of it. A large team of just infantry could take out the same point amount of mechs no problem, and that always bothered me.

In other words,
Q: Why is Mechwarrior gone?
A: A unicorn, some guy in Arizona, furries and yiffing.

The sculpts were great for that game. For about the same price as a HeroClix booster now, you would get a significantly greater amount of plastic. WITH articulation!!!
MechWarrior's fate has been troubled because:
1) They lost their brand manager (KevinG, who was a great BM) under WizKids and never got replaced, so the brand languished for about two years even before Topps-Kids went down.
I came up with a novel idea. Make MechWarrior figures compatible with Heroclix. Check out this post: Click here to go to the post.
If you look on the 2nd page of the thread, you'll read a plausable story that justifies the scale difference of the BattleMechs and existing Heroclix characters.
If anyone is interested, I can post other dials that I've made for a variety of other BattleMechs, vehicles, power armor, and infantry.
