A scenario came up last night when I played a Golden age Hellfire club team against a Sinister Six team.
Norman Osborne -LE (99pts) was adjacent to Donald Pierce (73pts) who was adjacent to a Hellfire club Guard (37pts). Norm and Don were targeted by Green Goblin (Ironic, no?) and his pumpkin barrage. So Goblin hits Norm and Don. So how should the damage be dealt? Norm would mastermind to Don And Don would mastermind to the Guard. I know two things about this:
1) Mastermind damage cannot be transferred
2) All EE splash and "hit by" damage happens all at the same time.
So can all 4pts go to the Guard or does Don take 2 and the Guard take 2?
all 4 points can go to the guard if both higher point pieces are adjacent to him, if not, then the 2 points from robojerk can go to the gaurd, and the two points from normie can go to robojerk.
it all doesnt matter anyways because in a turn, Cyborg superman is going to fling a dumpster at both of them and then eat it just to taste thier sweet sweet tears.

The Guard was only adjacent to Don.

If the Energy Explosion Character targets Donald Pierce and Norman Osborn. Hits all 3 defense values. That's H being dealt 1, D and N both being dealt 2.
Norman has been dealt damage he can master mind it to Donald.
Donald has been dealt damage he can master mind it to the Hellfire Gaurd.
All damage can be dealt to the Hellfire Gaurd. There is no rule stating that you can not MM'd MM damage, except for a few characters that are allowed to MM on to Higher Point Characters that specifically state it in their power.

Mastermind-When this character would be dealt damage,you may instead choose to deal all the damage to a single ADJACENT friendly character with a point value lower than this character.
all damage is dealt at the same time, so there's no time to shuffle the 2 from norman over to the hellfire gaurd thru Donald, he'd be assigned the two from norman, and the two from donald would be assigned to the guard.

The "Single Adjacent Friendly Character" means that he cannot split the damage and assign it to 2 separate Hellfire Guards. And Yes the damage is Dealt all at the same time, So if Donald were to use Master Mind he would be forced to Transfer all 4 damage to the hellfire Guard.

How is there enough time to shuffle from Norman to Donald but not enough time to shuffle it to the guard from Donald? Norman is getting damaged so he shifts it to Don. Don is getting damaged so he shifts it to the guard. As you stated, all damage is applied simultaneously, so no one takes damage until it is all worked out. In your scenario Don would effectively be taking non-simultaneous damage, with the EE damage being applied at one time and the MM-shifted damage from Norman being applied at a different time somehow. That's not how MM works. The chain stands and the guard will eat 5 damage.

The description of MM makes no refernce to time.
During any given action/attack/ in the game, was the MM character dealt damage? If "yes", the damage can be transferred.
So, during the EE attack, Donald Pierce was dealt damage (both from EE and from Norman's MM) so he can then transfer said damage to the Hellfire Club Guard.
G=GreenGoblin
N=Norman
D= Donald
H= Hellfire Guard
Goblin Double targeted Norm and Don. Norm was not adjacent to the Guard, but was adjacent to Don. So 4 clicks , not 5. Remember this:
MINION: TRUE PAWNS: If a friendly character of a higher point value with the Hellfire Club Keyword is within 8 squares, that character can use Mastermind, if they can't already, but only to deal damage to characters with the Hellfire Club keyword.

if all defenses were hit it would have been 5.
Norm: 1 for Target 1 from splash from Don.
Don: 1 for Target 1 from splash from Norm.
Hellfire Guard: 1 from splash from Don.
If Don and Norm both use Master Mind then the hellfire guard is dealt 5 damage.

Hmmmm. Maybe I just (subconsiocsly) was thinking that since the guard was out of range.... But yeah I see it now.
